• Anyone else watching? Liz has been really into watching the games and it has proved to be contagious b/c now I'm all captivated too….but being in the South and all I'll express my love of watching soccer quietly...lest a football fan overhear me 🙂

  • Ooooooohw.. we were watching…...... but we lost yesterday!!! From Russia!! ARGGG.. And they actually have a DUTCH coach! Everybody is depressed here in the Netherlands... 😉 Haha, we played so well against Italy, France and Romania... Sigh..

  • I know! We watched the whole thing. I was wondering if you were watching. I was definitely surprised that Russia won, b/c your team really nailed everyone else.

I don't even think I can tear Liz away from the TV to take the dogs hiking today. Even though we could record the game. Apparently it's not the same if it's not live.

Well.. Russia has Guus Hidding (the coach) and he's just… Good in what he does.......... He also coached South Korea and Australia.. and both coutries did well with him. We call him 'Guus Geluk' -> Lucky Guus 🙂

This morning bf and I drove to puppytraining and on the high way we saw all these orange decoration for in the car.. haha.. people just threw them away I guess out of disappoinment.

Maybe we have more luck during the World Cup..

And it's definitly diffirent when it's not live 😃

  • "Lucky Guus" I like that. Something happened to our satellite TV last night and when we realized it still wasn't working this morning Liz and I looked at each other like O….M.....G. Right now I'm waiting for her to come back so we can go to a bar to watch the game. I've never really done that "watch a game at a bar" thing before so I'm excited. And she better hurry up cuz it's starting soooooon! I wish we could take the dogs. But I tend to wish we could take them everywhere.

  • Yeeeeeeaaaaaaah.. Germany WON!!! (didn't watch it though.. thought it would bring bad luck.. )

Did you like the 'watch a match at a bar thing'?

  • It was interesting. 5-6 guys and…us girls, ha. Perhaps the best thing that came of it was I discovered that I'm a fan of cider. I told our waitor that I really don't like hoppy sour beer (which really means I don't like any beer all that much). So he suggested cider. It's very mild, I like it. A whole 5% alcohol. Isn't it big in Europe? I went and got my own little 6 pack the next day and I've been having one while watching the game. The Spain x Germany game is about to start so I have to go grab my Strongbow from the fridge.

The game we watched was pretty good actually. The 3-2 germany game. Lots of scoring.

The worst thing was that some guy in the bar made an awful, ignorant crack about someone blowing themselves up when the lightening took out the tower and the live feed went out. Liz and I looked at each other incomplete disbelief.

The satellite is up and working again so we're home. And it's starting!

    Enrique Iglesias? Is that necessary?

    🙂

  • Being almost fluent in Spanish, I'm so bothered by how the European Cup English commentators pronounce the Spanish player's name "Fabregas". It's SO bad.

Haha, I'm glad we have Dutch commentators 😉

    Enjoyed the game?

I watched it with a friend.. she cheered for Spain.. I cheered for Germany.. I lost..

I don't know about the cider. I believe it's very populair in Britain/Ireland. In the Netherlands we all (mostly the men) drink beer. Cider is only served in the Irish pubs.
Strongbow is produced by Heineken I believe.. and that's very Dutch 😉
