Blue happens when there is an absence of red pigment. Some breeders try for them - Nocturnals for one. I think there was a move towards 'mahogany' too, a couple of years back.

It is difficult to tell a tri Rat Terrier from a tri Basenji in some of the shelter photos. I have to ask does it have a tail and what type! Jennifer

In Oakleys litter some of the pups eyes were lighter hazel in color, I am fond of the way it looks and think it's striking but agree that the standard is the darker the better… Oakley has dark eyes buy wouldn't have minded at all if they were light

@ELERICKSON40: Well everyone knows that our tri is a little devil! Recent count was she somehow got one of my husbands hats and ripped the back off of it. I swear she opens doors and climbs! Last night I was making porkchops and waiting for the oven to heat up and I heard some strange noises coming from behind me. Of course it was Trixie trying to get the pan off of the counter! All I can do is laugh! LOL That's a Tri! So far Kiya hasn't gotten into too much but I know it will be soon….very soon. :p

Yeah, it is a hairless kitten (not very cute in the pic though) He liked to unroll Squiggys tail and watch it roll up again. I will try and take some better pictures this weekend.

Oh yes, I've stepped on my fair share of hooves in the night, in the morning, in the afternoon… when they seem pretty well-chewed on, I toss 'em.
