Just another Day

  • Here are pics of Ceasar and Cairo hanging out with me in the backyard after work.

Here is the typical backyard play…double click on the image and it should play a video

Caesar is such a handsome boy…

And Cairo loves chewing on rocks and laying in the grass…

sorry, these were all from my cell phone

  • They are beautiful. I really can't wait for my #2

  • 2 are a thousand times better than just 1. They play all day, both want to love up on you and are always fun to be around!!

I do suggest 2 boys together!!

  • Very cool, they do make some weird sounds don't they?

They are both very handsome boys….....I agree.......two!!!!;)

Thanks for taking the time to put these together.

  • Well, I remember that the puppy days seem short once they are gone.

Cairo has settled into his teeth finally and seems to play better with Caesar. Caesar actually plays back now that Cairo isn't biting so hard.

Cairo is nuts about fetching rocks in the backyard!

Some basenjis are like little muscles and wont lay on their side and are always postured. That is Caesar, always aware of his surroundings.

Cairo is a floppy basenji. He will run out into the yard with a rock in his mouth and flop himself into the grass on his side or back. Legs everywhere and smiling the whole time.

He has such a carefree happy demeanor at all times. A very joyous little boy.

  • Yes the rocks. My B just discovered them and I nearly fell over myself when I saw he was chewing on something and when I took it out is was a rock. Glad to hear this is O.k though I know to watch closely. He has also recently discovered bugs and likes to paw at them in the backyard. He actually ate a firefly the other day and well his whole body shook. He tried with an ant and then he spit it out right away and the lucky ant was still alive. They are so funny to watch and are constantly changing. My B never used eat Nyla bones and such but now devours them.

  • Betsy - good work doing this thread. Caesar & Cairo are a great pair. The 1st video had the strangest sound. Was that a sort of grrrrr?
    Thanks! :)

  • play fighting. It is all Caesar, Cairo is silent in play. Caesar is growling and putting his jaws on Cairo's face without biting….asserting himself....

  • One of ours loves rocks. Cost us $300 to have the tooth that got cracked removed.

  • Oh no….thank goodness for doggies insurance, just got it.

Super pictures of the two of them. The stem cell injectiobns seem a great help with the hips. I'm not sure that it is done here. I must find out. You have a right to gush about Kipawa - he's a lovely boy.

Thank you everyone for the nice and fun comments! Did she choose the costume?! She said I could choose for her….as long as it was fit for a princes!!! haha Her costume seems like a perfect fit. Was it hand made? Yes, I made her costume this year. In 2008 and 2009 I bought little girl dresses from Goodwill and "tweeked" them to fit her appropriately…...but, this year I just started with a bunch of fabric I bought from a garage sale for $1. When my kids were young I spent all of October every year making their costumes.............but then they GREW UP! (The NERVE!!!) So now I have Haley who seems to be perfectly happy wearing costumes.............she's obviously the perfect dog for me! (It gives my friends one more thing to tease me about, that's for sure!!!!!) Are all Basenjis OK with wearing clothing? I'd love to hear all of your stories!!!
