Where to buy a dog crate in LA?

Basenji Talk
  • I'm going on a long road trip with my two furkids, and I leave LA in two weeks. About a week ago, I ordered a very nice collapsible dog crate (brand Guardian Gear) from a Web company, doggonegoodstuff.com. I find out today that not only has the item not been shipped, it's not being sent to me at all and the company has unceremoniously refunded my money. Grrrr! snarl!

So now I need to find at least one collapsible crate that can fit in the back seat of my Toyota Corolla, and I need it quick. Does anyone have any suggestions on Los Angeles pet stores that carry collapsible crates? I'll call Petco and Petsmart but prefer to shop at a non-chain retailer.

    Suggestions?

  • I am not sure if the have that type of crate, but Centinela feed and pet store has a large selection. You may want to try there. I love that store! They are at 7600 S. Sepulveda Boulevard. Good luck!

@tanza: I can tell you that the cost in California (Bay Area) for what you describe as being done would have been just as much. Why am I not surprised. West coast living, be it in the U.S. or Canada is extremely costly. However, it has never stopped us from taking proper care when our animals have needed vet care. I should just remind myself that this bill was nothing compared to the bill for a sick parrot. Those can run around $1400.00, and we have had to do that a couple of times, but gladly, based on having one of the best avian vets in North America here.

We have one of those spray heads on our shower that you can take off and use by hand. I get the water nice and warm, and even though Samantha isn't excited to jump in the tub, she's so good to just stand there and relax while I lather her up with doggie shampoo and rinse her off. I used to have to wrestle with my other B's to get them clean! I guess the old German saying: "All good things come in threes" is really true!

Funny how good training pays off and makes you proud of the little rascal. Family who've seen Duke in action when he was younger couldn't believe I got another one like him (Daisy). I am a so proud of Duke. Daisy is coming along OK, but we're still going thru all the training . . . it pay off big time.
