  • Welcome! Welcome! I can't wait to visit Italy someday. I am hoping that i will get to go there on my honeymoon, whenever I get married anyways. That was a very touching story about how you got your puppy. I can't wait to see pictures. :)

  • Hello and Welcome to the Forum.

  • Greeting from Europe ( Poland):) :) :)

  • Welcome! Here's a toast to Leonardo! You didn't know Mona Lisa had a Basenji did you.

  • Wilkommen! :) Yeah I know it's German, but I'm from Germany (while living in America) teehee

I loved Pompeii and Capri (went to Italy last year with my mom)

Glad to see you guys here with your B!

  • Welcome to the forum, it is a great place to share Basenji information and make new friends! Since you are Italian, you know the meaning of my Basenji girl's name… Bella Bambino Biamondi (she is a girl... my Italian is limited to a few words and I found out later it should have been Bambina). The Biamondi is similar to my great-granparents last name whe they came to America from Italy! :D :D :D :D I dream of someday traveling to Italy!!! Hopefully my dream will come true...

well English speaking you have less problems with gender!!! Anyway, Bella Bambino is a real good name!
this reminds me there was a mare (I think at the beginning of the XIX cent., in England), a pure bred, called Signorina (=miss) who never won a race, and her owner had no money to find a famous stallion for her, but she fell in love at first sight with a stalion, not a real winner… Signorinetta (little signorina) arrived eleven months later and she became a very super star and won lots of races!!! that's the power of love!

Sorry, I like this true story so much I wanted to tell you! :)

    Sara

  • Thank you for sharing your story. It is nice :) :)

@abonnard Pee pads got me through in the end, she would pee every 20 mins for the first months, then 40 mins, then she suddenly went to being able to hold it for many hours. One of the best purchases I got before she arrived was a small carpet washer, saved my sanity. The cleanup is so key otherwise they go back to the same spot.

Welcome aboard, but do share his registered name ? Who are Dad and Mom and what was his date of birth so we can be sure to add him to the Basenji pedigree on-line database (with a photo ???) for the world to share him. http://www.pedigrees.zandebasenjis.com/

Jakal is a very handsome Basenji boy! ;D I agree with everyone else…. a closer photos of the bumps would be helpful. From afar it kinda looks like hives, but I can't be sure. I'm sure someone will be able to help! Also, Royal Canin has grains in it which many many dogs are sensitive to. I gave it to my Basenji when she was little, but after a few months I could tell it wasn't really working for her. It is not really the best dry food in general. Have you thought about Orijen? I know you can get it there, it has no grain - only meat and vegetables. I find that sight hounds like Basenjis do excellent on this high protein zero grain diet. I found it here for Italy: http://www.zooplus.it/ask?query=Orijen&num=20&form=Ricerca www.zooplus.it/

@Kalima62: For BellaBasenji….Bambina is more to say child...whilst, for Baby, we might say Bimba, that makes you understand you are refering to a very small child, just as a baby. And as you know ,the final "A" is for a girl, and "O" is for a boy.:D Ciao a Tutti:) Ahhhhh yes, bambino/bambina is such an appropriate name for a Basenji…. which is eternally "child-like" in nature!!!;)
