Looks like she has dew claws. Might be a hobby breeder. Sigh. I posted this girl to BRAT folks.

I sent it on. I also hope that this b when to a basenji savy home. I wish that for all b's who fall into shelters. Sigh. They need a soft landing.

BTW, I also use the shunning method with my basenji. He gets into everything and so I have to baby proof my house. Sometimes I leave a drink on the table and he tries to drink out of it and when I catch him with it, I let him know I am mad! I growl at him and then turn my back to him and he gets very upset. When he does anything I do want him to do, all I have to do is growl at him and he comes over to me bows his head and curls up in my lap. I guess it is an instinctual reaction to submit to his pack leader. He hates it when I ignore him in any way. He is funny, because he will sit down and look at me and whine or try to jump up on the chair with me if he thinks I am mad at him.

Has anyone e-mailed the seller to find out what these dogs have been used for? Were they breeding dogs and where did they live? Is there anyone with experience with these types of dogs that could take a look at them and lives closer? Does anyone know their pedigree or at least sire and dam? They are of the age that Fanconi usually strikes.

I am concerned since breeding season is coming up and it looks like they all live in the same kennel. I find this unusual but perhaps the owners do not have a lot of kennels.

Wow, Vicki. Although we are down in Savannah, we also have a place up between Young Harris and Hiawassee. Maybe we could meet up sometime. Don't know how our little female hellion would do with your female though. Our male would probably be okay. Also would love to hear more about your petsitting business that you mentioned. When we are up there we would sometimes like to be able to leave for awhile without worrying about the beasties.

I have two female Basenjis that are doing well together, but I, too, would be concerned about another female Basenji.

Monday, I'm interviewing a retired older lady who pet sits and she will stay in the home all day and night, if needed. I need a dependable sitter, too. I often babysit for people who would like to go to dinner and get away w/o worrying about their pets. If I can't help you, I'm certain I can recommend several other dependable sitters.

Taz has been in foster care through the Midwest Dog Resuce Network since he was turned over by the breeder (I believe around 8 months old). He had two sisters in foster care with him for a short time but they were adopted quickly. They were all shown on the BRAT website but were not evaluated by, or in the care of BRAT. He is such a handsome boy, I had given some serious thought to adopting him until they updated his profile to say that "he likes to be the boss". My female B absolutely has to be the boss of all other dogs (!) so I knew this combo wouldn't work out 😞
