    Hi! (: and Happy Thanksgiving!

    I just joined the Basenji Forums and wanted to give everybody some information about myself. My name is Marcus Giordano. I'm 22 years old. I've owned two Basenjis, the youngest named Tilley and the oldest named Joker. Tilley was a female and died when she was only 6 from kidney complications. Joker was a male and died last October at the age of 15. I have so many fond memories of both the dogs. It was always a blast when the two were together. They would sleep with me, play and fight with each other, and it was amazing. They both taught me many, many things and I will always remember them for that and thank God for them. I am currently trying to persuade my mom to purchase another Basenji, as it has been over a year since Joker passed and everyone in the family is a little lonely. The Basenji truly is the King of Kings, the best breed. Well, hope to talk with you all soon, and learn some more information about this spectacular dog! Bye now.

    Welcome… I am guessing that your girl was lost to Fanconi? And if that is the case, when you get your next Basenji there is a DNA test for the Fanconi Gene as of September of this year.

    @abonnard Pee pads got me through in the end, she would pee every 20 mins for the first months, then 40 mins, then she suddenly went to being able to hold it for many hours. One of the best purchases I got before she arrived was a small carpet washer, saved my sanity. The cleanup is so key otherwise they go back to the same spot.

    Hi there. I would do some DNA testing on him. However, if you go to the Colorado Basenji Rescue website, there is a mix at the bottom of the page. There appears to be some similarities. You could also email Peggy of CBR with your photos and ask her. She has been working with Basenji and Basenji mixes for a long, long time.

    Hi Vicki - I love your name. ;) Welcome and I hope to see more of your postings. This is the best site for help, advice, and friendship. I, too, use the squirt bottle and always keep a cup of water on the counter for more drastic intervention. My two will go at it, then clean each other up once they are wet. It is funny.

    It was actually the vet tech wasn't the most brilliant thing on the planet… needless to say I found another vet the next week and they think she might have some bulldog in her... what a mix. I believe that she definitely could have some bulldog in her judging by the way she lays around the house.
