  • We received our Basenji from a friend that had no clue what he was. We were told that he was a 5 month old Min Pin. Vet put him as almost 7 months old, and a Basenji. He has every Basenji trait, mannerisms, etc except he can bark.

We want to have genetic testing done by a reputable company to verify what Diesel is mixed with. He is up to 18+ pounds now at 9 months old. The older he gets. And the more weight(muscle) that he gains really makes him look more & more like a text book Basenji.
    He has transformed my family.

I travel the country delivering new RV trailers, and he travels with me. Has been amazing, all whom see him go crazy. He gets treated like a rock star. Quite funny.

    I'll post better pics later.

Thank you for adopting this beauty. She looks so much like my first basenji.

Welcome and so sorry to hear about the health issues of your two B's…. Thank you for opening up your home to them... And Thank Goodness we now have DNA tests for Fanconi so that no Basenji ever has to suffer with this horrible affliction.

Bungwa has a very dry mouth and I only managed to get a very tiny white patch on the test card but it was still sufficient to do the test with that. It only turns white when it's dry - the instructions are quite explicit. Of course as Pat says it could be a bad test form.

Thank you so much for the compliments! Yes, Dew is a very funny looking dog and he has about a million faces he makes at me. I think that the basenji/beagle mix should be the next big thing, just because I think he's so great, but I don't know that the average person who just wants a good ol' dog could handle him ;)

Thanks to all for the warm welcome of basenji owners! We're taking a year off of dog ownership to welcome a foster kid. Actually, we would have liked to foster earlier but our basenji boy was not especially fond of kids, and running activity tended to result in him biting someone in the hiney! Our kids, grown now, will definately be basenji owners someday. Don't know whether my husband and I will or not – we loved Rosco but know we got a good basenji, and don't know if we're ready to lose another room full of furniture to break in a new one! Ha!
