    There's an older Basenji boy in my complex. His mom's deaf but she communicated that he was 7. I'm not sure he's full due to his tail (really loose whip) and his size. He's a rangy boy. But you can tell he's got Basenji. Wrinkly face and all.

    I haven't seen her again. My honey was coming in late on Friday and said he saw a Basenji and a small white dog being walked by a man. No clue if it is the same B or not.

    Saw my neighbor today. She signed that her Basenji had died. He was apparently 17! She loved meeting my little B/W foster boy, Toby, who enjoyed playing with her small white mix. I'm going to keep a note on me with B.R.A.T.'s information so she can may be get another B!

    Awe! Thats so sad…at least you got to meet the pup before he crossed the rainbow bridge. She should adopt from BRAT when she's ready for a new dog :)

    It's been my experience that sometimes my basenji just gets it in her head that she doesn't like another dog, and for seemingly no good reason. I have been able to mitigate her behavior, but this is not a cure…. First, an excited basenji is a biting basenji. Make sure he's calm. Make him sit. Exert your dominance. Stand over your dog, look him in the eye. You need to snap him out of his mindset and remind him that you're in charge and he doesn't need to be aggressive. It will take time and patience, but he can be made more comfortable... I've also found that walking together as a "pack" helps. The two humans in the middle, the dogs held on a very short leash to either side, and you ignore your dog's aggression, focusing them on the walk itself. After a short while, they should just about forget one another. But this also acclimates them to each other. Good luck!

    Butu's very quiet, but the other day, we were walking past the church and a lady came out unexpectedly. Well, whatever my boy is, he's not a stoic, so he screamed. Wow, did she jump! I apologised but mentioned, to be fair, that Butu had been startled too. Got one of the nastiest looks I've evr seen ;-)

    I have a very good friend at work who lives somewhat in the country and has lots of what she calls "barn cats" around her. When she first came to work at my office she had 2 cats, hers and her mother's, who had come to live with her, since then she has "adopted" 7 more from her yard. She started feeling sorry for them and started putting food out there for them. Her husband has finally said "no more". She is a "good" cat owner as she has spayed/neutered each cat she has adopted and keeps them inside. Now she has become involved in rescue of the rest. If she thinks it doesn't really have a home she will try to catch it, take it to the vet for a check and spaying/neutering, try to get it socialized with humans and other cats, then try to get it adopted out. She does all this with a little bit of help from a rescue organization and a break on price from her vet but she is still out of pocket quite a bit and I respect her all the more for her commitment to the betterment of the lives of these forgotten animals.:) We all wish there were more responsible cat, and dog owners, for that matter, out there like her.

    My son is a large boy not due to not walking just large like my uncle. Eli was 13 end of July and his weight is 130 lbs or so and 10 men's shoe to 10 1/2 and he is 5'6. Eli big boy but I have seen some kids that walking really was needed every day. That is my baby. Rita Jean

    I just started hearing Zahra do the screaming, I have warned my neighbors that we are not beating the dogs, Zahra just likes to let everyone within a two mile radius know that she is wanting attention. She usually screams when I take Chase out for a walk and leave her behind. I can stand in the middle of our street and still hear the screaming. I guess we will never live in a condo or apartment again! LOL! :)
