Isis - recently re-homed Basenji in Seattle

Member Introductions
  • I had to re-home my darling red/white Basenji named Isis, a 1.5 year old spayed girl, in July of this year. My living circumstances were economically altered and I could no longer give her the care she needed and deserved. I kept in touch with the gentleman who adopted her but recently found out that he re-homed again without letting me know. He can't or won't provide me with any information regarding the adoption. Astounding to me, as now I am quite distraught.

    I have all of the vet records for her and wanted to get in touch with the new family to provide information and support. I am not interested (or rather can't anyway) reclaim her, so I don't want said family to worry about that type of situation. I just want to keep in touch but not interfere.

    If anyone has any information regarding this adoption please message me or reply on this thread.

    p.s. Please don't get into the whole "don't get a dog if you can't care for it" argument. I know. Circumstances wildly out of my control forced me into a very unfortunate situation. Please be sensitive to that.

    @dagodingo I agree - snout doesn't look like a basenji.

    As others have said - thank you for recognizing the qualities of the 'mature' dog. Best of luck to you and your new companions.

    Jack sits like that on the stairs too! Jack has a couple of places that he has claimed. Top of the couch, center cushion of the couch, under the dining room table, on DHs pillow (when he isn't around). Every once in a while he tries to test me by sitting in my spot on the couch, and he gets a little growly and snarky, so I poke him a little bit until he decides to move on his own :-)

    It was actually the vet tech wasn't the most brilliant thing on the planet… needless to say I found another vet the next week and they think she might have some bulldog in her... what a mix. I believe that she definitely could have some bulldog in her judging by the way she lays around the house.

    I'm sorry for the loss of your dear Basenjis. Losing a pet is so difficult. I hope this site helps you through the transition. Welcome.

    Welcome Jackboy My husband and I have a red and white Basenji boy 4 1/2 mths called Bandit and a 2yr Lowchen boy called Alfie. We are revisiting obedience for Alfie for first time training for Bandit. We are walking 2 a day with haltis now and what a difference it has made to our walks. Instead of having our arms pulled off, the boys have progressed to walking beside us…. Hooray... and oh so enjoyable.
