Pedro do you mean he can't decide where to pee and keeps moving around. My last Basenji male and now my female Pup takes ages to find the right spot to poo. She will trot around, start to do it then suddenly decide it's not the right place and move on.
My first Basenji used to look like he was bursting to go but would trot around like she does. I used to watch him and think "for goodness sake just get it done with " :D -

hi thunderbird, that he does! it's so funny and he looks like he is going to burst too!. what is the reason for this? tell u what my boy wont even poo in the back yard!!!. WHY… I DONT KNOW!! BUT IT'S FUNNY! he looks at me like ha where do i go??. then walks around like maybe here/ no, maybe there!. i should put it on funny home video's!!.

Your right it is funny but frustrating too when you just want them to get it done. Don't know why they do this but both my Basenjis have been the same. Makes cleaning up after them a challenge too ;)
When we first got Malaika she used the garden no problem but she too is reluctant to do anything in the garden anymore so we have to walk her so she can go. -

Pedro, maybe your basenji really values his backyard as an extension of his home and just does not want to "dirty" his backyard. Probably the best thing to do is to walk him so he can feel comfortable going somewhere else other than his home/yards. Make sure to bring a plastic bag to pick up his poop. Here in British Columbia, Canada, you MUST do that. Not sure what the rules are where you live in the U.S., but it really is a nice way to keep the neighbours' and the area in which you live tidy.

ME TOO!! boy do they know how to be an alfa in sooo many ways & stubburn too!. i didnt walk him for 5 days and 5 days he didn't phoo!!. that brat would push his but in the ground just so he wouldn't have to go!!!. what's up with that?! puzzled here. but i love him any ways , looking in to getting a female for him too. he's getting to where he don't get along with other types of dogs!.

This is the beginning of Basenjis breeding season… boys know it.... in-tact or not... or it could just be a act of dominance.... as in he wants you to stop what you are doing
To stop, put him in a crate when cleaning or working/feeding the kittens....
Question: When do males start to show this behavior? What is the earliest age?
19/19
