Help with Jack

    Hello we have Jack who is 4 years old. about 5 months ago he was bitten/drug over our fence by a cyottie. His behavior is different know. He has bitten my son & my husband we were concedering getting rid of him but I dont know what to do. We did get another dog about a year ago and thas really I dont know if jack got jealous or not. They got into a fight last sat and know they have been seperated for over a week and jack seems to be different. Im only afraid theat jack might bite my 5 yrd old daughter. Please help I dont know what to do. Get rid of Joleen the 15 month old bordercooli/lab that we have had for a year or jack that we have had since he was a puppy. HELP FAMILY VERY CONFUSED:(:confused:

    you need to talk to a vet and have a complete physical done. ask for a thyroid pannel and ask about tick born diseases (both these things can cause behavior problems/changes). Then ask about a good behaviorist and talk to them. Also, I'd encourage you to talk to Jack's breeder and see if she has any insight.

    I agree with Agilebasenji in getting a complete physical first. How bad was Jack injured from the coyote?

    Thank you to everyone. We had the Thiroid panel done and a complete physical done. we had the physical done right after the bite. The thyroid was done about 4 months ago and it was all perfect. My husband & I are know thinking that he may be jealous about the other dog. Help we love both the dogs but I think I may feel better on getting Joleen a different home. IS THAT BAD. I am so confused. HELP WE hav had Jack since a baby and Joleen since she was 5 months. :confused:

    Have you discussed this behavior with his breeder? Have you tried a behaviorist? And are you sure it was the full thyroid panel, not just the one part that is done with Vet's regular blood work?

My issue is people selling things as science/proven when they aren't. My issue is vulnerable, desperate or uneducated people getting taken in by hustlers. Not a different planet, just the science based and honest part of the same one. Having seen too many people hurt, or their animals hurt, or children hurt, by false science/medicine/therapies... I am sorry that you think belief in scientific proof and honesty about what is or is not proven is wrong. If someone says to me, "I drink vinegar and it helps my arthritis, but there's no research proving it works"... good. I might even try it. But when some quack says "pay me $100 and I'll tell you why your dog bites or where your missing child is or if your husband is cheating on you or whatever"... they deserve to be horsewhipped. I am sorry if I sounded dismissive to you personally. It wasn't my intent. It was reaction to what you wrote. In general, we're on common ground. We don't have to agree on things to stay on the same planet. :)

    @dmcarty: Since they are so young I would assume it is each trying to figure out where they fit in the scheme of things and you may be overreacting. I will however tell you that the one breed of dogs that my basenjis have never liked is ****zu. LOL ….. you know it is all about the hair!

    Kipawa went through a rambunctious stage at 13 months - he didn't do anything bad, but he seemed to be 'testing' who the boss was. He was reminded, consistently. (Grin) At 15 months he started to show very nice maturation qualities and a complete understanding of his place in our family pack. Be patient, be consistent, give him lots of exercise and really praise him when he is good.

    Move the crates to different rooms. The female won't be able to see what's going on. Give the male his food first, then feed the female a little later. Don't let them out of the crates at the same time.

    Hello I'm New , My Daisy Is A Biter. If You Touch Her Sometimes. She Seems Really Sensitive All The Time. She Can Be Fully Awake And Loving Than It Switches. She Has Gottin Us Good A Couple Times. I Don't Know Why She Can Turn Like That She Is A Spoiled Pooch. Do You Have Any Ideas What I Could Do.
