LOL on being hated. If it helps, Arwen was AWFUL for the longest, would try to get under the covers other side of bed etc. Now, she actually comes over at bed time and waits for brushing. She doesn't like it, but as long as we keep her abscess free, she puts up with it. I have also managed to cut her from steroids every 2 days for almost 3 yrs to ever 3 days for the last 8 months with no abscesses, so we are doing better. Do I hate doing her teeth… yes. But I couldn't bear to just pull all her teeth so I don't have to do it, and really, it doesn't take me 5 mins from the moment i get the toothbrush with paste to go put the toothbrush in the cleaning solution. It is so worth it to not have her lose any more teeth. 🙂

Nice to hear some good news on the forum for someone, such a shame sometimes even the simple things take time to sort out, glad your eye problems are solved to the point of being a possible allergy to something rather then being something more serious, in saying that allergies are a pain in the butt. Yay for Becca and Tucker.

😞 Krunzer, as the aunt of a niece with Downs Syndome, who has served on coalitions for and MHMR boards, I do want to say the use of "retarded" as a slur is really offensive. I cringe over that use as much as I do the "that's gay" comments, or "Jew down on the price" etc. It's just hurtful. And btw, not singling you out and I have also used words common (like gyped and Indian giver) before I really thought about the connection. Just wanted to share my response, not meant as any type of insult to you personally.

I am sorry I guess I just did not think when I was writing it. Thank you for pointing it out and I will try to be more courteous in the future. Sometimes things just come out of my mouth(or typing) and I don't think of the connotations first, I really need to try to be more diplomatic on here and in every day life! 🙂

Thank you Suzee. They had fun with the squirrel after they found it. I like watching that Python Hunters show that is on OLN about the invasive species of snakes in FL. It is a good show and it does show us how we have disrupted the ecosystem by introducing non native species to different parts of the world. I have not seen a squirrel in the yard for a couple of weeks now, it's great! Once I get the rest of the acreage fenced in they can go into the back pasture and hunt mice through the grass. We don't have a lot of rabbits out here but in the summer time I will take pics of their new place to run!

Maybe you should have contacted BCOC rescue and they could have taken over. While you may be affiliated with BRAT, in Canada we also have our own rescue and I'm sure someone was aware of it and already tried it. Helps to do a little digging with BCOC.

Test results got back today….yay no thyroid issues....just fat puppy I guess. I will have to watch exactly what she eats and cut her back from there if she does not start to lose some of the 'winter weight'.

This is the doghouse we used for years for our outdoor Border Collie. I realize Alberta can be colder (although we have seen -30C at this location), but you are talking about daytime use, not overnight. We used straw for bedding, and when my dog emerged in the morning after a cold night, he was quite warm and the interior of the house was also (I checked). Sized and insulated correctly, this design will keep a dog warm. (you could obviously change the dimensions to allow for more insulation if necessary). The only caveat is, will he use it? My BC was happy to retire to his house for the night, but during the day tended to lie in the "porch" so he could see what was going on. Of course, much of the day he spent his time with me, so it was a non issue. (one addition…...we put a couple of cement blocks on the roof after it blew off one day in a windstorm!)

There's one that comes to our dog park named Rocket and he's very fast and focused on retrieving. I have yet to see him play with the other dogs. He's never mean or anything just not interested in play.

ALWAYS…. HE will follow me, jump up and try to get my wet hair... scratch on the shower door to get it...LOVES wet towels. he ESPECIALLY loves my teen daughter... she smells GOOD. LOL
