Getting a new pal for my B's!!

    We have been looking for a nice small outside dog for our acreage and we have finally settled for a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling retriever (over the Finnish Lapphund). I can't wait to get him. He is a 3.5 year old and apparently has a wonderful doggy temperment (which will be wonderful if he can get along with my female B). He is coming from a breeder in B.C. named Tollchester Kennels. I have met a couple of her dogs before and really like them, as I was looking at breeders closer to me I still feel this is a better fit for us. My husband may do the 12 hour drive to pick him up on Saturday. I am really excited to see how he is going to play with my B's!

    I know it's not another Basenji, but I did sign up for BRAT and I hope I can help out that way. But we are looking for an outside dog for our acreage.

    There's one that comes to our dog park named Rocket and he's very fast and focused on retrieving. I have yet to see him play with the other dogs. He's never mean or anything just not interested in play.

    You can find a lot of puppy collars at thrift shops for pretty cheap - would never pay full price for one. I'm getting mine at 14 weeks and was told that 8-12 inches was what was being used - then at 4- 6 months graduate to 10-14 inch collar.

    @DebraDownSouth: Great pictures. :( Krunzer, as the aunt of a niece with Downs Syndome, who has served on coalitions for and MHMR boards, I do want to say the use of "retarded" as a slur is really offensive. I cringe over that use as much as I do the "that's gay" comments, or "Jew down on the price" etc. It's just hurtful. And btw, not singling you out and I have also used words common (like gyped and Indian giver) before I really thought about the connection. Just wanted to share my response, not meant as any type of insult to you personally. I am sorry I guess I just did not think when I was writing it. Thank you for pointing it out and I will try to be more courteous in the future. Sometimes things just come out of my mouth(or typing) and I don't think of the connotations first, I really need to try to be more diplomatic on here and in every day life! :)

    I'm afraid If I do decide to get another I won't have a chance to introduce them beforehand as it Will probably be a puppy I bring from the US.. I doubt there will be a problem since she will be a young puppy…

    Jayden is super gross when it comes to what he'll eat: poop, vomit, and, if he pees on the patio, he'll lick that. Honest!!! We feed him and we feed him very well! Yucccchhhhh! Pat

    We use the seat belt/harness type for both of them. They're in the back and stay put. They just curl up and sleep.

    It is amazing how smart they are, but I worry that not only could the house have burned, but they may have been hurt as well. Anyone of us who has kids knows it can take just a millisecond. (I guess we all have our B kids.) When things are just too quiet, I go hunting too!
