  • They all stay because they want a treat and they usually get one for standing on the table. Since my dogs are show dogs I reward them for being on the grooming table so they learn to like it and relax on the table when they are at a show. It does mean that when I take the table out to work with a specific dog they all want their own turn on the table. I took a break from shows while we were raising the puppies so it has been awhile since I have had the table out. They were all so excited about having a chance at a treat they all climbed up on it.

In general, my dogs all get very excited about the opportunity to work. On obedience and agility nights they wag their tails, wiggle, and barroo about getting to go to class. Truly, it is easy for me to stay motivated about going to class with them always so joyous about the opportunity. It does not mean they are the best behaved when they get there but they do want to be there.

  • Congrats on your beautiful B's they are lovely

  • I just got this photo of Zeke with his housemate Buchman. He is growing up so fast. He is fitting into his family and best buddies with his "big brother" Buchman.

I am not in your area, but ... you should know that dog training is about teaching you how to interact with your dog, as opposed to teaching your dog how to do things. Most area Kennel Clubs offer training where you are your dogs partner in the class. The things you will learn will last your lifetime. I applaud the non-punitive approach. A lot of people fly off the handle when their dog chews on the wrong thing, or doesn't quite have potty training down. One of the best things you can do is give them love when they do it right and don't react when they don't. Recognize that he's just a pup. You can trade an acceptable chew toy for your shoes, and you can avoid the problem by closing the closet door so your pup can't get to your shoes. Accidents will happen and learning to potty doesn't happen overnight. Just provide a lot of verbal love when the pup gets it right and don't react when he doesn't. Love and praise are the best tools in your training bag. Congrats on your pup. Can't wait to hear about all of your adventures!

Nice looking dog! I'm tempted to get another too once Safi is a bit older.
