Where's AJ #20

  • A cowboy sings a tragic song about kissing his girl, Fellina goodbye at the back door of a restaurant.

We are in the town the song was named for.

This town was recently in the news because it was the recipient of casual damage resulting from a current issue to do with rampant criminal activity based in a different country.

Name the town, the artist who made the song popular and, for extra credit, the restaurant where the cowboy said goodbye.

    Cheers!

  • Could it be El Paso, by marty Robbins - and Rosa's Cantina.

My parents were big into Country music - i have all sorts of weird lyrics in my head!

  • I thought that would be an easy one…but that song sure does bring back some memories....

  • You got here first Scott - you gave us more clues this time AJs Human, even I got it!!

Hope the new job is ok for AJ and you!

  • Ackkkk! Now I can't get that song out of my head. I can even see a picture of Marty Robbins' face!

  • @Kipawa:

    LOL!!!

New job seems to be going well. So far, I've gotten everything I've asked for including model and color of the truck. We have a copper colored International Prostar. Yes, the same company known for farm equipment. I'll post pictures when I take them and my 'puter is up. I'm posting from my phone right now. :)

  • So, I guess I couldn't have seen you in my recent trip throught the city of flying pigs (for those unaware, there is one). Two hours of stop and go southbound, trying to get to the airport. I was in the backseat and looked at every truck on the off chance there might be an AJ sighting. Obviously, no luck, as you were a few time zones away :) Had I seen AJ, I might have jumped out of the car I was in and jumped into your truck for a couple of miles…just to say 'Hi'...that's how slow going it was. My advise, for north or southbound, take the by-pass...but what do I know? There were plenty of trucks willing to wade through the traffic.

While I-70 and I-75 seem to be the major cross-roads in my neck of the woods, I rarely get up that way. However, if you ever find yourself on I-675, I could wave to you from the bridge near my house:) "Shiny Hiney" …LOL..I'll remember that.:)

I love Chicago…most truckers think I'm a kook for having that opinion, but I've been known to go 75 miles out of my way just to sit in Chicago traffic. :D There's a certain energy in Chicago I can't find anywhere else in the world. And yes, that says a lot...I've been in major cities from Tokyo to Prague (Praha) to Munich to Seoul as well as amost every major city in the US. There's just something about Chicago.

I've been trying to do that…it's not as easy to reach the distinctive landmarks with a semi as with other vehicles, including RV's. All the really cool places have signs up that say "No Trucks" and it really bums me out. I understand, though, because there are so many truck drivers who just throw their trash where ever they want instead of find a garbage can. And they pee on the ground rather than expend the extra energy to walk 75 feet into the bathroom. Trucker areas reek to an eye-watering level in hot areas because of this. But I do try to find distinctive landmarks when I can...the little lake in Minnesota, the rock formation in Colorado, coastal trees in North Carolina.... I will try to find more landmarks I can access.

@Maya: If you're living in Holland, you need a Friesian!!! :D I have the most wonderful friesian, her temperment is amazing. She's not even 3 yet but she is just so sweet and gentle!! But, do keep us updated. I've had horses since i was 3 and they are a huge part of my life. I couldnt be without them even though im not as involved in the horse world as i once was!! P.S. I have some photos from a show over here in the UK with shires in their traditional plaits and tack if anyone is interested in seeing them. Its just amazing!! Yes!! I love to see the pictures!!! I like the Friesian horses but it's not a breed wich can used for lots of things, they are to special i think :D I like the Friesian for shows and as a barouche horse (is it a good word?) I once ride a Friesian and it's different with riding a normal or western horse. They make larger steps and it's very comfortable riding! A friend of us breeds the Friesian :D @moetmum: That sounds exciting, hope it all goes to plan. Our neighbouring farmer used to breed shire horses, they don't breed now but still have loads of horses. They go to loads of shows, they were sponsored by a local brewery. The horses are fascinated by the basenjis, and always want to come and have a look! the b's aren't keen when they snort at them though. I have never heard of a horse milking farm before!! Wow!!! If it was a little bit near Holland, I really would come over to met you and take a look at the shires next door :D:D We're don't going to live in Holland :D In Germany they have also some very nice breeds Hannoveraan, holsteiner (i don't know the english names…0
