    Zest finished her Novice Agility Perferred (NAP) this weekend and got her second Novice P Jumpers leg. Her two NQ runs were nice, took an extra jump in jumpers and was a little distracted in her first ever Open P standard run. All in all, I'm very pleased with her runs this weekend. She's still showing good focus and speed, a willingness to work with me, and seems to be having fun. We're done for the year, but our next trial (Jan) she'll be doing 16" jump height and back to novice.

    And in other news, Jet celebrates his 12th birthday today.

    Zest way to go yes sounds like this was a nice finish. Rest and get ready for Jan.

    The breeding that didn't take last year, are you going to retry? Do you still have frozen "Jet"?

    The bitch was older, sort of a last chance breeding, so no.

    and yes, there is some frozen jet pellets at the vet's.

    @agilebasenji: What nice runs in what is a very high pressure situation. Happy little basenjis - both of them. Drew reminded me of my kids when he "discovered" the judge in his ring. <gg>I hope Zest! and I can go sometime. Did Drew's jumping style change when he lost his eye? Just curious about his depth perception.</gg> Thanks Kim. I am sure you and Zest will one day go. Put it on your 'to do' list. I did. :) Drew's jumping changed dramatically. He used to jump very similar to Feigh but without the overzealous enthusiasm that makes her jump too early sometimes. Once he lost the eye - he started to stutter steps and at 16 inches would crash the doubles and triples. As he gets older and age related changes occur to his remaining eye which had issues related to VF as well, hiis stuttering has gotten progressively worse so I was glad to get the PAX out of the way. Thanks too Fran and Janneke. Feigh is a once in a lifetime Agility dog for me. :)

    That was very nice for a first try. She will improve greatly as she becomes more seasoned. Beautiful little gal. You're doing well with her. Heck, just getting a Basenji to do all that is a triumph. I thought it was cute how she went around to greet the judges. Such a little ambassador.:D

    I have been a bit of chicken about entering a competition. I think I am going to give one a try either this May or June. I am going to start in CPE because their level 1 should be a good place for me the novice handler and Rio my novice dog.

We're in Los Angeles; any recommendations on the closest coursing location(s)? ~ Lori ~ If you check ASFA (www.asfa.org) and AKC (www.akc.org) you can find were trial are being held… also Lisa might chime in here and give you a PM to her Mom that lives in So. Cal and courses quite a lot.
