Pictures of Otis-4 months

Show Off Your Dog
  • Well as some of you might know I have desperately been trying to get some picture uploaded into an album on this forum but it will not work, so I am posting some pics here instead.
Otis is now officially 4 months old (he turned 4 mo on "cinco de mayo"). He is a really big boy, or at least so we think. He weighs a whooping 19 lbs and stands 15" in his shoulders (withers?). I actually ran into another Basenji owner at our local RAW dogfood store and he was amazed as to how large Otis was. His boy, Johnny is 4 years old and looks about the same in size, but weighs more like 25lbs, at least that is how he described him. So who knows…
This pics were taken yesterday and today so the are hot of the presses...
He just looks so very regal and poised, but we all know that is a facade

Here he is rough house'n it with Gus, the doxie..

Yeah I just managed to add an avatar…power to the patient...
Hope y'all will enjoy the pics, Basenjimamma

I Definitely do not think he has learned on thing from his ordeal, he tries to gun it as soon as the door opens, to get into the front yard. Now I have been working on him to sit if the door opens and so far so good..but I don't trust him.. Either way he is feeling much better in his body, his stomach is still upside down, severe diarrhea, has lost 1.6 lbs since monday, not good. I just came back from the vet and they ran several tests, nothing came back suspicious, so we are doing a 30 day cure of probiotics, a wormer to be on the safe side, as well as a 3 day cure of antibiotics. He is not acting as if his stomach is sore when palpatated, which is good, according to the vet..He ate two servings of food when we got back, well I actually just gave him one more, because he was acting as if he was still hungry.. Again, thanks for all his well wishes.. On a different note, the vet was giving him some treats and after giving him a few she continued to talk to me….he wouldn't have any of that..he started talking to her in a really weird growly manner, it was so funny..he has never done that before..needless to say he got more treats after that.

@weeziesmom: I have tried chew bones to curb his chewing however he tries to take weezies and they fight over them You can teach him to leave hers alone. Make them both sit for their chew; give hers first and make him stay with you when she dashes off to chew. {helps him see that she gets one/he gets one, and also gives her a head start!} Make sure he knows you have one for him also. He must sit and make eye contact with you before he is given his treat. Once they both have a chew, make them stay in different spots. Stand between them, moving your body silently to block his attempts to get to her. If necessary, tell him "no" or "leave it". It shouldn't take long for him to learn that he gets his and she gets hers. Eventually, he will just look when you hand her the treat and will sit and stare at your face until he gets his own, then he'll run to his own spot to chew his bone.
