@styvez: He does Bark, but tends to make a whole lot of other noises instead, i've read up on Basenji's but never seen or heard one so i dont know what kind of noises they make. Does he sound anything like this? http://s11.photobucket.com/user/eeeefarm/media/Basenji/MOV01074.mp4.html

Janneke, thanks for your comments. Your answers totally help me make sense of your situation, and what Tillo is doing. I would be the same as you - the human might want the dog to get their points, but is it the best for the dog? In your situation, I certainly agree with your train of thought. I am a big Tillo fan, so naturally want him to do as well as he can in any show, but I can see how his behaviour could lead to worse things down the road if he learns that he can growl and get no reprimand for it. You are doing the best thing.

Great Pics!! My two roam from window to window depending on the time of day and where the sun hits. Katie will lay in the debris you have shown in your photos just like Lenny. Tyler will do everything in his power to avoid dirt or unseemly areas. He even whines &/or whimpers when he's cleaning his feet or undercarriage after some perceived dirtiness he has been in contact with. (He'll occasionally sunbathe in, and dig in Katie's sand box, then he comes in and complains while he's cleaning the sand off!!! It's very irritating)

@Mantis: Is the one on the right the girl? Do they get along great? They look like quite the pair! Congrats! And you are so thoughtful to take a pair and keep them together! I'm sorry it took me so long to respond to your questions–I missed your post somehow.....Yes--Zoey is the little girl on the right. She is actually quite a bit smaller than Tyler, but it's hard to tell from this photo. Tyler is a big, handsome boy, and Zoey is a sweet faced little girl. They have always been together--Zoey was one of the girls from I believe the last litter that Tyler sired--and they get along really well--however, Tyler does do some resource guarding of me. He seems to get jealous when I pay attention to Zoey. But other than that--they get along just great. Zoey always looks to Tyler to take the lead. But Tyler is the one who goes more bananas if left alone at home. The reason I wanted to get two is because I work all day. Zoey has gotten a little more assertive with Tyler since I've had them--I think maybe because she now has me to look to for support and protection in addition to him.
