Eli makes new friends!

    Last night we went over to visit a friend who just got a rescue mini doxie puppy. Trip is about 4 1/2 months old and they also have Pax, a rescue German Shepherd who is about 3. Eli had a blast wrestling with little Trip. Since E has always been the baby I was pleasantly surprised that he got along so well with the puppy.

    He and Pax had one snarky moment. Eli was leading the B500 with Pax hot on his tail. She couldn't catch Eli, so after about 3 laps Pax got smart and doubled back instead of just finishing the circle. It was dark and there was almost a head on collision. I think it scared both of them, but they were over it in about 2 seconds and were off again.

    The funniest thing is that they have a huge terraced fish pond. It was dark and Eli went flying up and jumped on the wall…..right over into the pond. Needless to say he was one VERY unhappy boy!:eek:

Frankly, I suspect you are letting BASENJI close your vision. They have quirks, but overall no better or worse than most breeds. All dogs take patience and that you be at least as persistent as they are. At her age, she doesn't get the option of "won't allow me to do anything." Without yelling, hitting or rough behavior, you really can turn it all around. Right now is the time she must learn you can check her teeth, look between her toes, check her ears, etc. At some point in life, it may be critical, so training her NOW is important. But it can also be relationship building and fun. :) Mary has one of the easiest to follow sites. You just start working on training so that she comes to see you as the one to guide her.     Nice photos, Jonny was a good boy! He was probably happy to play with another basenji! Glad it all went so well.

    I would suggest waiting until you get the little guy. Indi didn't have a name for abut 2 days. We had all these names in mind and none of them fit. Thats my two cents anyway (oh ya and because we did that I have a cool costume for him on haloween but I don't think I am going to get any cooperation on his end)

    new friends are always fun. I'm glad they are getting along so well. Would love to see pictures of "king of the coffee table" :-)

    I think an original idea should be developed that is associated with bs. The weims dressed up is so classic for them. Bs should somehow be associated with messes. Maybe they should be paired with new furniture advertising or TP sales!!! Weims became so popular tho, they are having probs in rescue. They are very high energy and most people can't give them enough exercise. I think my idea would prevent Bs from becoming too popular and lots more ending up in rescue. :D
