That's good news! Do you have a show planned for her?
Her first show is in July at Schoningen and is actually the judge who judged Basenjis at Crufts this year so I won't have the language barrier this time;)
I only have until Mid November of showing her across here before we go back to the UK so I will have to try and get her to as many as poss before we go.

Most of the judges do speak English really if they know that you are English;)
I am hoping Kwame will get his title at Dortmund in May if not hopefully he will get it before we leave.

Ah bless him:)
I'm sure he will get the idea. I am having to do the ring training at my puppy socialisation classes aswell as at home as I don't have any ringcraft classes round here:( and she needs to get use to the distractions when moving.
The people there probably think I have lost the plot. She is starting to realise that she has 4 feet not just 2 so is starting to get the idea a bit:rolleyes: -
Janneke
I will keep you posted how it goes with Hormonal Harry aka Myran -

Hormonal Harry won his class and became 3rd best male with a reserve CC:( It was an ordeal the judge took ages to decide and in the end it was between 3 dog´s.He had us running around the ring over and over again 5 or 6 times I lost count my throat was aching and head was spinning. Then he after he made his pick he came to me and owner of the second runner up and complimented on our dog´s but said that it was us the handlers that had slowed down our dog´s in the end.DUH!!!! well yea after s running 3 laps in my class and almost 6 laps in the best male ring we were pooped I didn´t know you needed to see the condition of the handlers.A finnish breeder told me that he´s known for his marathons and if she would have known that it was him she would have warned me.But it was only the males that got the marathon not the bitches. Then his final comment to me was you have a fantastic dog but you need to get your own condition up or get a handler well yes if i´m to do marathons for him which I don´t i´m quite happy to run 2 or 3 times but more then that is not necessary to see the movements;)

Good to hear HH did well
How stupid that the judge made you run like that.. and then comment you on your condition.. Really weird.. -
Janneke
Yes it was a bit odd but other then that he was a nice and very friendly judge his name is Tino Pehar from Kroatia. So if you get him in Holland be prepared to lace up our running shoes -
We have a judge here in the US, Gerta Kennedy… her favorite saying in the ring is
"I have not lost a dog yet, take them around one more time"!!!! -
So the goal is to loose a dog more likely she´ll loose a handler before she´ll get a basenji to break down:D
-
In 2003, we have Mr Pete Dawkins judging our specialty…
I showed TEN dogs to him.... the 9th dog was De La (my veteran bitch) and she won her class...
then we went in for breed and I was showing my veteran (her son, Benny) as a special... we were first in the lineup...
It wasn't a good day for Benny as his Valley Fever was flaring up bigtime.. but it came on whilst he wasx crated duirng the day....
and one thing that really got Benny mad was if he travelled and sat in a crate and did NOT get to show. so ?I had no choice but to show him, or deal with him being made at me for days on end (and YES this dog would hold a grudge against me, so I'd learned my lesson early on!)...
every time the judge made a cut he said okay just one more time around...
his one more time was not truly one more time... I ran around the ring 14 times during Best of Breed....
there was a handler right behind me the entire time and we kept telling each other that if our dogs weren't being considered, please let us leave the ring (to each other of coures, NOT the judge!!)....
it finally made it worth it to win Best of Breed with Benny... but man were Benny and I worn out (me being 6 months pregnant and his VF on edge!).As a judge, I do like to move my dogs around the ring... and usually I will take the ones that I am comparing and have them go around twice together.. once with each one in the front.... if I can't see what I want then. the dog is NOT going to change !!!!
-
I meant to add that I was hoping to see that my boy in Finland would be able to go to the Swedish specialty (you have such a respected judge this year!)… but those crazy stipulations with Sweden and titers, etc, he won't be going until next year.
Will any of you be going to the Finnish specialty?? -
Kathy
There has been a change of judge at our speciality in sweden to some polish judge but in the finnish speciality you have a well respected judge Hans Lehtinen(finland) he recently judged basenjis at Crufts. We do however have two basenji judges at the WDS and Circuit. For WDS 2008 we have Irene Terry from England and for the Circuit we have Damara Bolté´from USA.I´m going to the WDS&Circuit but I will skip the swedish specialty this year due to change of judge I would have loved to have gone to the finnish but my youngest dog isn´t done yet with her rabies titres.
But next year we´ll have the same rules as the rest of europe hooray:D -
When Sweden changes his rules.. we will also come to the speciality
I tried to get Mirtillo to stand and then take pictures myself.. The standing worked out pretty well.. but the pictures…
