It is 49 and raining… and this is the 7th straight day of rain.... believe me for California... this is "hell" for Basenjis...gggg...

  • When it gets cold and snowy here - for about the first week my dogs go out and run right back in and look at me like they are saying "i'll go out later when it's warmenr."

Eventually the need to poop and the knowledge that mom will be pissed if it's in the house - wins out. Can wait for spring mud

  • Speaking of "desinger" breeds… my dh (for the longest time!) was trying to convince me to breed our Papillion to a mini daschund. All I could picture was huge ears that may or may not flip up at a moments notice, a super long body, and long legs. It would look like something out of a Salvidor Dali picture!!! EEk!

To each their own opinion Debra, I am working with Oakley on other issues right now and at twenty nine months he is still maturing. I don't live my life by the "what ifs", as of right now I'm able to be with him all the time when I'm not working so yes, I cater to his wanting to be around me, it's not rewarding for me to have a dog that's not independent of me, but it's the reality..and until I'm ready to address it 100% I haven't…he has made significant progress in crating and barrier frustrations...so I'm happy with the progress, and frankly..these other issues needs to be dealt with before addressing this...in order to make me leaving him with others successful. He's a happy, healthy young boy with a complex and stubborn mind, I'm going to work with him and not fight him on evolving and adapting his behaviors. However, your concern is noted and appreciated.

I've only just read this post as I was away for a few days. I couldn't agree more with Tanza about substantial and bladed bone. The UK standard calls for fine bone which is interpreted by some to mean 'weedy'. As Tanza says it is not all black and white. After all the term 'fine' is open to individual interpretation. I had a look on your website Tanza and agree that Maggii is very feminine and has good bone.

My Nika's eye got cloudy to the point of flicking your finger at it got no response then the eye turned blood red. Went to the eye vet and it turns out the lens inside the eye slipped. I had to give her other eye these very expensive eye drops called Xalatan or Travatan that kept the pressure down and the pupil small but even then the lens was moving around a little.
