Back Story

Basenji Talk
  • I got Goober from the North Shore Animal League in Long Island, NY. He was dropped off neutered and with no history. So I made up a back story to make him less mysterious. Enjoy.

Dr. Jack Eevel was your typical mad scientist. Atomic supermen, high jacked nuclear weapons, frickin sharks with fricking laser beams on their fricking heads. When his plan for world domination was cut short by a bumbling, over sexed "secret" agent he switched to breeding atomic super dogs instead.

His attempt at breeding a Basenji the size of an elephant left his secret rocket ship a ragged mess. After he was forced to roll up a giant newspaper and build a state of the art sound system to broad cast "Who did this? BAD DOG!" he moved on to black labs. He dropped off his neutered test pups at the North Shore Animal League, LI, NY.

Dr. Eevel is currently enjoying his retirement in his secret volcano lair in the Republic of Pulau.

  • When did you get him?? I think I saw him…I went to the NSAL in LI & I think I may have met Goober :D So glad he got a good home!

    And I love his history :D :D :D

An agility dog is always an agility dog, no matter how old! And racers too I guess! None of mine are athletes but Nicky at 14 always amazes people, if you don't see her grey hairs or cataracts, you think she is much younger. Love the 'oldies but goodies'.

When I was with BEAR rescue in OH, I rescued a young B/Sheltie female Mix from a Columbus shelter. We went lure coursing in PA and stayed at a motel that had waterbeds. This girl was under the covers along with the Bs and in the middle of the night I woke up to hear panting. This crazy girl did not know any better than to get out from under the covers to get cooler. I had to physically pull her out, get her some water, and put her on top of the covers to cool her off! Even though she had a narrow snout like a Sheltie, a slightly heavier coat than a B, and a looser tail, she had a running style like a B and loved to chase the lure. There was a picture taken of her lure coursing. She also like to retrieve balls which none of the Bs would do. She was a sweetie and was eventually adopted.

Here's an update on Lana: since the Hips/Eyes/Fanconi is all good/normal/clear (still waiting for thyroid), we actually went ahead and selected the male, absolutely stunning Ch. Bushbabies Red Ryder, from Bushbabies Basenjis in Livermore, CA. Waiting for Lana to come in heat! They are a very good match, body and personality, should be pretty nice puppies!
