    We live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and have been looking to add a member to our family. The breeder I visited and selected will not have any puppies available until 2022... it is way too long for us to wait! I am ready to travel to go and meet a breeder that will have puppies available this year or beginning of next year. We have done all appropriate research and are very serious about having a Basenji in our caring and loving family. Thank you for any help that can be provided.

    Hi Genny,
    Try Teri Cuzzetto of Takari's Basenjis. She's in Gresham, Oregon and last I heard still has a R & W boy left from her litters. She's on FB if you want to see photos.
    She's a reputable breeder and her lines consist of champion show dogs.
    Let her know Helen referred you and good luck!

    Also from that region, Jumoke Basenji, Bryan and Laurie Gregory - he is president of BCOA, so you'll be getting top shelf puppies :crossed_fingers_medium-light_skin_tone:
    A girl was still available last month.

    This is not the time of year to look for a Basenji in the Northern Hemisphere, let alone in Kent ! One breeder from there is reputed to have said he had enough advance orders for 4 years after the last year's rush to buy a Basenji ! But you could (maybe) get on a waiting list for next March delivery. Email me privately (address in websites on signature block) for a list of breed club secretaries.

    Hi, I talked to my daughter last night and she really does not want me to find him another home, even though he's making her sick, (she's allergic to him). She threatened to leave home if I did. She's 18 so she could. I guess we will try and keep him. The good news is I did find a place that will pick up and drop off dogs, take them for long walks in the woods, and let them play with other dogs for the day. All for just $17.00 a day. So at least he's not in a crate for 9 hours any more and he seems to really enjoy it. He runs to the person right away and is excited to go and comes back very happy and tired.

    Yes, I am considering :) I already filled out the forms for basenjirescue.org After talking with my family, we're willing to take a rescue pup from from last winter, hopefully I'l get a reply soon.

    @dmcarty: Understanding however that breeding carriers to clear is the option that allows to include the widest genetic diversity. Breeding only clear to clear reduces the diversity in the population - shade of what happend to the breed during some of the other health concerns like HA, PRA and Malabsorbtion. Hopefully we learned that throwing the baby out with the bath water is not the most effective way of keeping valuable traits while eliminating health concerns. +1
