@nkjvcjs:
We have a can with a push button that makes the top spring up. We took off the spring so that you have to push the button with one hand and lift the lid with the other.
That has worked so far.

That sounds like a good idea :D
We too have the pedal-thing and Zuri always open it with her nose :rolleyes:
I keep the doors shut…
Welcome to the forum!
Your preparations sound great!!! ;)
And I'm also looking forward to the pics.
Hi Anne -
Thanks for checking in on us. Kona is settling in perfectly. She is so sweet and only causes trouble a couple times a day - mainly when my husband isn't home :)
She traveled with us to Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando over the Thanksgiving weekend and handled it all very well. She even played beautifully with my nieces and nephew.
We are so lucky to have found her and she is the perfect fit for us! We look forward to coming and meeting the other Tampa Basenjis. I am hoping to come to the park after the holidays once Kona is completely caught up on her shots - she goes for round 2 tonight.
I will post some more pictures soon too!

Woah! I can't begin to tell you the noises I hear behind me. The two are going at it . . . because ? ? ? ? They must need each other to remind them that they are dogs. (I think). Zuri is very cute!
Welcome!! I would also add that Basenjis are high energy dogs…umm so good luck having them "calm" down :) But if you exercise them often they will come home to sleep! Which is great down time for you.
They will also do these wild sprints around your house/yard/wherver there's space!! We call it the "Basenji 500" because it's JUST as fast as the Daytona 500 or the Indy 500 :)
