Y'know, the one where a B does all those tricky dance moves? The only link I can find ("Dog Reflection") seems blank & doesn't work for me…

P.S. Any truth to the rumour that the dog in the video is really a border collie wearing a basenji costume, lol?

Kipawa does this as well, and also prefers to do it with dogs that have a longer coat. I've never had a problem yet, but I do watch carefully. If Kipawa starts going a little overboard, I redirect with a treat, or I will also tell him "time out". Both work for us.

That was my exact interpretation. Adding caution to the wind…never hurt anyone. 🙂 This is not an exclusive conversation - many people from all over the world at any given moment are viewing the forum - if they didn't take the time to read this thread beginning to end - blah - blah - iterating words of wisdom in the middle of any thread could save a life.

btw - I find advice about training is situational - every dog and every trainer has different styles. Hopefully when we get stumped with a training issue, this forum and members have different tried and true methods, various options are out there.

Thank you Jason for your time in sharing your thoughts and training methods that are working well for you. It's always good to have diversity and commonality.

ps - I don't want anyone else to feel left out with my appreciation - so a big thank you to others who've shared their important thoughts and training ideas here and elsewhere on this forum. You are all so very helpful.

I have been a bit of chicken about entering a competition. I think I am going to give one a try either this May or June. I am going to start in CPE because their level 1 should be a good place for me the novice handler and Rio my novice dog.

She sits on command and has for at least a few weeks….but when it comes to heading out for her walk....that's where she lights up! Anyway, I will keep trying and trying.

That's when you know you've accomplished something- when they look at YOU and not the treat. Miles still has some work. Lexi is pretty flawless. She learned it from our Dobie. 😉

It just takes consistency. And to be pretty stern when they "mess up"… although most of the time I just had to laugh. Especially after Miles would snatch it and then flop over. 🙂
