    Help…. we are in search of a female basenji puppy for my mom. Yes she has had one and here ex got it in the divorce years ago. She loved her very much and now agter years b on her own would like another. We would like to be able to meet tje breeders if possible versus having one shipped in. She just wants a pet. No showing or anything like that. Thank you

    Apparently, because of the pandemic, puppies and kittens are in short supply everywhere, and since female basenjis generally only have one litter a year, you might have to wait even longer. The theory behind the shortage of puppies and kittens (and even older dogs and cats) is that because of lockdowns, etc people are lonely for companionship.

    That distance is not that bad to find a reputable breeder. We drove from northern Michigan to Rockford Illinois and to Milwaukee Wisconsin to get (2) of our Basenjis, would do it again. Two of the best Basenjis we have had.

    My husband and I have been talking for a few months about adding a second Basenji to our family (we are the proud parents of a 2 as of this month Basenji mix). We have been watching BRAT but we also are considering going through a breeder, the reason for this is that we feel the best addition to our family would be a puppy under a year old. In our experience our little B girl has done best with puppies that are her size or smaller and she has spent time with since they were puppies (she is 13 lbs) or very mellow fully grown dogs (but even that is iffy). She does great with the dogs she has "grown up with".

    @godzilla: after losing kenta back in feb. i've been looking for a brindle also he died from blastomcosis ) the lady i got him from says he was a rare one but i grew up with a black and white and got another he has such a attitude and i love him the rodent if you happen to find more than one let me know PLEASE If you are looking for a brindle boy… shoot me a message at bennyburnerbono at aol dot com. We also have a black boy and a tri girl available... and a red girl just to makie it all even! Kathy
