    Help…. we are in search of a female basenji puppy for my mom. Yes she has had one and here ex got it in the divorce years ago. She loved her very much and now agter years b on her own would like another. We would like to be able to meet tje breeders if possible versus having one shipped in. She just wants a pet. No showing or anything like that. Thank you

    This is not the time of year to look for a Basenji in the Northern Hemisphere, let alone in Kent ! One breeder from there is reputed to have said he had enough advance orders for 4 years after the last year's rush to buy a Basenji ! But you could (maybe) get on a waiting list for next March delivery. Email me privately (address in websites on signature block) for a list of breed club secretaries.

    Apparently, because of the pandemic, puppies and kittens are in short supply everywhere, and since female basenjis generally only have one litter a year, you might have to wait even longer. The theory behind the shortage of puppies and kittens (and even older dogs and cats) is that because of lockdowns, etc people are lonely for companionship.

    Hello, go to www.basenji.org and search for breeders... by state and there are some from Canada... you are most likely looking at possible breedings for fall/winter of 2020. Note however it is IMPORTANT that you go to a responsible breeder so registration papers are important as many BYB's use other types of registrations that are not registered by AKC or the Canadian Kennel club and you need to follow up on health testing youself... if they are doing responsible health testing before breeding the results are public at www.ofa.org.     Yes, if you want a rescue basenji you really need to be on top of it every day. They go fast, and unfortunately not always to educated homes. The effort is well worth it, though, both in getting a wonderful pup (who may need to work through some issues so you can both be reminded he's wonderful) and in the satisfaction of giving a basenji who's been misunderstood a wonerful forever home. Hang in there. Your pup will find you.
