Basenji Mix?

    We got Pedro from a shelter so we have no idea what his parents where but my vet thinks he's a shiba ini or basenji . He's about 4 months old and weighs about 18 lbs.From reading the personality description and from some of his features , i'm convinced he has some basenji in him, opinions ? What could he be mixed with , or if not basenji other guesses in what breeds?

    I can see why someone would think there was Terrier, but I'm not so sure about Basenji. (The only way to know for sure is to do a DNA test.) Both of your dogs look very similar. What breed, or mix, is the older one?

    Very cute, but I don't see Basenji..... but could be very hard to tell sometimes with a mix

    @Buddys: Actually, my first B was found running around and was not altered. Always a possibility since the canine need of procreation is pretty darn high up there with food, water, and air…... Oh I'm sure it does happen and will continue to happen but I just don't see it happening as much as rescues claim it happens. I know for a fact some shelters (the one I worked at did!) will label dogs as rarer breeds to get them adopted faster. We had two scruffy "doodle" mix mutts and the animal warden INSISTED they were Wired haired pointing griffons. LOL.

    Wow! That is certainly a fascinating mix! ;-) Two sighthounds and a Spitz in there, so will probably see much the same sorts of behaviour as Bs….I bet she's quite a runner too! Good look with your girl!
