@JENGOSMonkey I WAS THERE FOR '89! I was a kid, but I remember the water coming out of the swimming pool in huge waves and everything falling from the shelves! I was actually born in San Jose, but moved around a lot later LOL I hear the wildfires are more of a concern for you guys now? That's scarier than quakes for me...

I cannot imagine committing to buy a puppy without seeing the animal and if possible the sire and dam. OTOH, a rescue (or adoption of an older dog) is a different thing. My last two Basenjis came to me sight unseen, and turned out to be wonderful dogs, but the breeders I got them from wanted to place their dogs in an experienced Basenji home, and I only paid the cost of getting the dogs to me. One came by air, one was personally transported to me by his breeder. If she hadn't been happy with what she found I expect she would have taken him back with her when she left. I also had to commit to return him if ever I couldn't keep him. Good breeders care about where their dogs end up.

@Kembe, nice post! We've gone to solid food chopped up in a food processor, but we're grinding it a bit more course as we go. So far, no puppies are choking, but good to know!

I had been giving Dallas a couple yards of regular fleece in his crate. He would shred them sometimes but I assumed he wasn't eating the fabric because I always find tons of little pieces everywhere. I thought that until this past Saturday… I was walking through the backyard & noticed a piece of his poop with a nice long piece of fleece wrapped around & in between it  So, not only did he eat the fleece, but managed to poop it back out. I was actually glad to see it because I have heard that fabric can easily cause blockages, leading to major problems. Needless to say, I don't think I will be putting fleece in his crate again anytime soon.
