  • I live on a apartment on the third floor, and a little space "balcony" to make the laundry, so i put always neewspapers and Maca go to make her bussines there.

The basenjis are very clean so she walks to do and comeback inside the apartment, of course the balcony have concrete half wall, so he cant fall,

When i back home i pick up the poo and change the pappers if not, she makes poo on the next area, my kitchen.. haha.. and then i pick up again and check the newspappers. She dont use the place if are too dirty.

So just need to keep clean her "poop area" and she will use always.

I always use a lead to walk her on the streets and if she make poo i will pick up. And thats all.
If rains she makes inside. But not a big deal, just more papers to clean.

And of course her bed are not on that area, i think that she wont like to sleep or rest on her poo place.

  • Well done to you and Maca as you've obviously sorted out the 'poo' problem. Basenjis are really very clean if they're allowed to be and I'm sure she appreciates you keeping her 'poo' area clear.

Wondering how your two are taking to each other now. We've had Bongo for just over 3 weeks - seems like so much longer - and he and Fiji are now a real team. Wish I'd had the camera handy last night when they were sleeping on the couch with Bongo draped over Fiji. (The first week they'd share the couch but at far opposite ends.) They walk together, run together and share toys and bowls. She still puts him in his place if he messes with her crate, or crosses some other line that only the b's know and understand, but he takes it like a dog. I'm actually surprised, and thrilled of course, that they bonded so quickly. How are yours coming along?

Luzambo, I too had one pass last March. After that I was left with one and said once he passed, I was going to be done with dogs – too much of work and emotional strain. Yep, I was going to be free to... well, to do something. Then I found a little girl related to Brie just 2 weeks later and 6 months later I have yet another. Yes, they're a lot of work at times, but so is most everything in life. I love having them around and the house would be often boring otherwise. I'm sure Pharaoh and my Brie are hanging out in their private club looking down on us saying "what are you guys doing down there?" And with a signature like yours, I don't think you'll be waiting long. Welcome to the forum!
