    I'm looking for a young male around 3-4 months old. Willing to reserve puppies. Tri-color is preferred, but more important is temperament and quality of dog. I would love a show-quality male. I live in Houston, TX and I am willing to come pick up anywhere in the US. I want a top-notch addition for my family of five. I prefer to fill out application so both parties are comfortable. I have been searching for a couple of years for the perfect fit!

It's just a reminder that listing a location helps connect your want/need to (hopefully) someone who has what you are looking for (within a reasonable distance). If my advice doesn't help this particular person, it may help someone else in a similar situation.

    I just found out about Tucson last week nd this week we have company from out of town otherwise we would have gone. I will be checking with the two breeders I've found in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area. I'll keep looking for a rescue. Thx

    It depends on the breeder. I come from Rottweiler breeding background... we expose puppies to loud noises, really loud, uneven sources, temp changes, etc etc. Getting one at 8 wks, start off slow. I am sort of shaking my head... grew up around hunters and dogs and none cared... but that was the norm. I did find what looks like a reasonable article that might help. Also, I know you are set on a male... but have you considered an older rescue? Brat, CampBasenji and other rescues might have the perfect dog for you if no puppies are available.     I live in San Francisco and I'm very interested in adopting a Basenji! Could you please contact me and give me more information …. i have had numerous basenjis .. starting out with my two RAMSES and NUBIA they had pups .. and although they were not planned pregnacies .. went to very good homes.. I still have some contact with one family .....that bought two of our pups ... My beloved Leeloo and MAx died last year ..... and I'm sooo in need of having the pitter patter of Basenji feet run around in my empty house... Aldo Villalta 415-587-5010
