Senior Male in BC

Basenji Rescue
  • Anyone know of a Basenji breeder who's in Langley, BC or used to be? This male has a tattoo on his belly that reads 'FPG34J'; any info appreciated :)

    CORRECTION: His tattoo is SPG34J

  • I've sent an email along to the breeder who we are getting a retired show dog from as they have been active in both the Basenji Club of Canada & lure coursing for at least 15 years in BC and they might have a better idea of who it might be.

  • Terray Boomir is out in BC. Her letters are 5PG. Try her. She has a lot of dogs that she sells and I know in the past, she has taken her dogs back. She has Terrarust Basenji's. She is in Delta BC. Her website is http://www.terrarust.com/index.html. Hope this helps.

Woo hoo! Thank you ;) I knew I could rely on you guys :D

  • Great resourcing! And, love the pics on the breeder's site. Basenjis on surfboards - gnarly!

He's not theirs, now that we have the form the surrendering owner put in, the correct tattoo is SPG34J

I feel like people need to be just as careful when choosing a rescue as they are when choosing a breeder. Rescues have been found to be hoarders, to be breeders labelling their dogs as rescues as a marketing ploy, or like PETA, to kill 97% of animals they "rescue". The impression I got of this rescue was that it was not one I wanted to work with because they seemed to hold some extreme views. I am delighted to hear that I was wrong and that this is a good rescue. The situation with the "breeder" is horrible, and I am glad this girl is finally being cared for. I agree that the breeder has earned herself a place in you know where. After Estelle passed away while my MIL was in the process of trying to adopt her she is a little gun shy. It is amazing how attached you can get to an animal you haven't even met. -Nicole

Dmcarty, I am very sorry too, and very disapointed. The kids had one thing after another and once it was "my" turn, I was too pooped. I wish I would've gone, it sounds like it was great. I am glad you made it down here and back home in one piece, even though there were some problems along the way..

Well, I think my goal might get met after all. I contacted someone in Wisconsin about the other older dog in need of help, and even though he was taken care of, the person I emailed referred me to someone with basenjis that only lives about 20 min away! She emailed me tonight, I just got done responding to her, hopefully we can meet up soon!
