  • here are some updates as of Sat. 3 1/2 weeks

  • My, my they are looking even more adorable… they're sooooo pretty!:D

  • Here they are, sort of stacked at 4 weeks.

    Tink

    Indi

    Bubba

    Talker

  • Well, just looking at the pictures at 4 wks, Bubba is my pick at this age, he is the most balanced at this tender age.

  • He's a little more curious as well. I can't wait for the next few weeks to see how he develops.

  • It's hard to tell about Talker with him leaning back but I agree with Pat that Bubba is the one who stands out at this point. :)

  • I'm glad you guys agree so far. He's actually been my pick for awhile. But, we'll see as time goes on. Hard to tell his tail set with the fat he has around his backend.

  • I have to agree about Bubba! It's kinda funny where you have them stacked… on the KITCHEN COUNTER this is where they would give anything to be later on in their lives, LOL!!!

  • Arlene,
Look at all the pups, they are all going to have the same tail set…. They are all about the same and I don't really see that changing. They would have an acceptable tail set, IMO.

  • They are all so cute! :) Keep those photos coming!

  • I'm leaning to keeping one of the boys. I have enough dark dogs and enough girls. I only have Shadow, who is neutered as a boy. So I really would prefer one of the boys, but I am looking at Tink too. She is such a sweetie-loes to cuddle!

As for the counter thing, So True! One day they will only wish they were up there!!

OR… they will just get up there and look you in the eye and say "Hey, you started it!"

  • I just love the name Tink, is it short for Tinkerbell?

Or is it "stinker"??? I have a "Stinker"…. one of Kristii loving nicknames... and sometimes called Tinker or Tink....

  • I'm all for Bubba too at this point! Thanks for sharing Arlene. :)

  • Hmmm… Arlene... can't wait to see pics at 8 wks and see if we all still agree on Bubba...but the Tri bitch is really cute too...

But I can certainly understand your reasons for keeping a boy and it makes sense....

Yes, Tink is short for Tinkerbell.

  • The tri bitch is, I don't know. Her body is okay, but so far, I don't like her stop. We will have to see. I actually, at this point prefer Tink's head.

Just curious…when you say you don't like her "stop," what do you mean???

Obviously a disadvantage to only see the pictures, you have "real time"…ggg

But I think the Tri bitch's stop at this age is just fine.....

From the Breed Standard, Stop is referred to as just below the eye, as the foreface tapers to the muzzle: The skull is flat, well chiseled and of medium width, tapering toward the eyes. The foreface tapers from eye to muzzle with a perceptible stop. Muzzle shorter than skull, neither coarse nor snipy, but with rounded cushions.

Seems like the DNA sample would be easier to get too. I guess the advantage of the sperm count is that you at least know if the sire is fertile or not. Good luck, can't wait to see pictures of the pups to be.

4 sounds like a very manageable number.. I will keep my fingers crossed that they will come out in colors wished/hoped for. Either way they will be absolutely adorable, I am sure of that.

Thanks Andrea and Robyn, That was helpful. Zoni isn't horribly mouthy but I definitely have some more work to do with her. I carry a nylabone in my pocket for the occasion.

@satieo: I was just curious, I saw the thread about ages of bitches but what about males is/should there be a cut off age for them? Obviously they shouldn't be younger than 2 for proper testing. No cut off age… as long as they are potent... I used a 14yr old with one of my litters and it was a natural cover.
