    Woo hoo! Yes. I'm driving to TN and meeting the lovely rescue mama on Saturday. Bailey will be coming home with me. I saw her on petfinder and couldn't resist another Basenji. I've got to stop this addiction!!!! HELP.

    Thank you…the rescue mama and I am so excited we found one another.
    Both of us will be driving all day on Saturday and will meet in Lawrenceburg, TN, in front of the Davy Crockett statue in the town square.

    I'm taking my Eski, as co-pilot, and my little Basenji to keep her out of trouble while I'm on the road trip.

    The previous owners kept Bailey outside and she didn't have playmates.
    They had an older Basenji that passed away. Their son bought them a Basenji puppy, Bailey. The couple are retired and elderly, and decided Bailey should be kept outside all the time. When the rescue mama took her, Bailey was thrilled to have company and comforts of home. She does look older, but the rescue mama said Bailey is still a puppy, not quite a year old.

    So, I'll have two young'uns in the house.

    That's just wonderful, Vicki. Lucky Bailey and lucky you! Thank you for being devoted to rescue. Can't help you with the addiction - I surf for basenjis every few days even though there's no way we have room for more than our two.

    @Janneke: Sahel is a gorgeous girl! I hope she finds a good home soon! This is what I don't understand.. The pup is about a year old and the owner wants to get rid of her because: "I'll be traveling and working more this year, so I'm finding a new home for a beautiful and sweet female Basenji" What about thinking before getting a dog :( It is possible that the owner has a new job, something possibly unexpected especially with the sketchy job market in the US presently. In any case it sounds as if the owner cares about her and would like to find a good home.

    @BasenjiDiva: Wow, Vicki. Although we are down in Savannah, we also have a place up between Young Harris and Hiawassee. Maybe we could meet up sometime. Don't know how our little female hellion would do with your female though. Our male would probably be okay. Also would love to hear more about your petsitting business that you mentioned. When we are up there we would sometimes like to be able to leave for awhile without worrying about the beasties. Pat Hello - Yes, I would love to meet you when you visit your vacation home. razzcinn at aol dot com. I have two female Basenjis that are doing well together, but I, too, would be concerned about another female Basenji. Monday, I'm interviewing a retired older lady who pet sits and she will stay in the home all day and night, if needed. I need a dependable sitter, too. I often babysit for people who would like to go to dinner and get away w/o worrying about their pets. If I can't help you, I'm certain I can recommend several other dependable sitters.
