  • I guess I should have done this a while ago, but just wanted to say hi and express my appreciation for this forum.

Seti is my one and only basenji - we've had him since he was 4 months old. He is now 6 1/2 yrs. old and the best dog ever! I wish that this forum had existed when he was a puppy…my husband and I had no clue as to what we were getting into, but somehow we managed to get by

It's nice to see that other people are as crazy about their dogs as I am, and now I can upload my photos here rather than bothering my friends (who I know are SICK of seeing all of my pictures!!)

  • Thank you for the introduction and welcome! We love photos here, please upload as many as you can.

  • Yay…MORE PICTURES. MORE PICTURES, MORE PICTURES. :D

  • Hello and Welcome!
Please upload.. can't wait to see your pics!

Aggression is an all encompassing term. As pointed out above, there is quite a range! It is not unusual for Basenjis to be dog aggressive. Mine is, and I just avoid other dogs because I know his intentions are not good. Some are same sex aggressive and fine with members of the opposite sex, and some may just be making a statement when they are leashed. If you describe what you are seeing more specifically I am sure lots of people will have common experiences and possible training fixes to share. I would love to see some pictures of Tucker, and welcome to the forum!

My heart breaks reading your wonderful story of Dinah - it is so clear she is a huge part of your heart -you will have such wonderful memories of her when it is her time to give up the pain. I also do not believe dogs don't have souls - of course they do - the unconditional love they give, the way they try to help when you are emotionally suffering, the joy they get when they see you coming after a separation - all these and more are proof they are very soulful. A loving companion dog is God's gift. All our hearts are with you, and our tears flow with yours. God bless.

Hi, Lori. I got my Tyler and Zoey from Karen and Chuck (Medfly Brigade) a few months ago. They were there almost two years because they needed to be placed together–and then I came along. Yes--Karen and Chuck are just unbelievable with the amount of work they do to rescue and care for basenjis. It is really a labor of love for them. It's great that you adopted one of their "senior citizens." And for anyone here on the board, they have many great Bs and mixes in Southern CA that need forever homes.
