Hi Everybody…

  • Greetings from eastern North Carolina… My name is Brandon and I've been involved with BRAT for about 5 or 6 years now. I have had 2 basenjis, Jazzineah and Mr. Tazz, as well as a foster, Buddy... I'm currently a full time student, having returned to college to finish my degree after a 15 year hiatus... I'm working on making my new place more basenji friendly so that I can get back into fostering and hopefully have a clan to call my own again... :)

What a sweet face! Thank you for taking her in, she needs a forever home. As Pat indicated, unless you have info on the parents being clear, or at least one clear, she should be tested for Fanconi asap.

@sharronhurlbut: How is your dog settling in? Any issues? He's doing well but we've had some problems with biting (normal) and his loose stool but I've started transitioning him to the Orijen dry food.

dear muffen hi and welcome :) rescuing a dog is a wonderful thing, i hope this is a good option for you. i know brat has many dogs in florida that are looking for their forever homes. they do a great job of matching dogs to the right owner. disclaimer if you have small children it might be a good idea to get a puppy from a reputable breeder. luckily, puppy season will be here soon and there are a couple of really great breeders in florida.

Luzambo, I too had one pass last March. After that I was left with one and said once he passed, I was going to be done with dogs – too much of work and emotional strain. Yep, I was going to be free to... well, to do something. Then I found a little girl related to Brie just 2 weeks later and 6 months later I have yet another. Yes, they're a lot of work at times, but so is most everything in life. I love having them around and the house would be often boring otherwise. I'm sure Pharaoh and my Brie are hanging out in their private club looking down on us saying "what are you guys doing down there?" And with a signature like yours, I don't think you'll be waiting long. Welcome to the forum!
