4mth Tri puts 1 year old in its place

  • Kiya now rules the roost.
She has managed to assert herself in everything. When it comes time to feeding…she eats first and makes Chance wait. Any toys or bones, Kiya must have and will go right up to Chance and take them from him and sit right on top of em. She is quite the stinker!
Last night Kiya wanted the bed...the whole bed. Chance would try to jump up and she would not have it. She made him sleep on the floor, the whole night!!!
She is this tiny little ball of terror towards Chance at times. She will not let up. Chance has now learned that whatever Kiya wants...Kiya gets. :o
    Gotta love Tri's 😃

  • Hee hee! That's why they refer to them as "tri-ing" and you've got the ol' double whammy - a female & a tri…

Yes that is typically "bitch" and then add Tri on top of it….

One thing I really will suggest is that you feed then in their crates separate... it really is not fair when it comes to food to have her pick on Chance...

I agree. I don't feed my dogs in their crates, but when it comes to food, no one gets to push anyone around. They are fed in order – Gypsy's bowl gets put down, then Jazzy's, then Keoki's, and no one is permitted to annoy the others.

Meal time should be a comfortable time for all dogs, and they should feel they're secure and relaxed throughout.

  • Fill in Ivy and Querk for Kiya and Chance…and welcome to my world seven years ago 🙂

    Tri bitches...yeah....have fun 🙂

  • I agree, a tri girl is, well tri-ing. But so darn cute and lovie-dovie when they want to be that no one can resist the charms. Good luck!
I would suggest working on the bed guarding. In my house, which-ever dog gets to my bed first will growl as the others try to climb in. I make sure the others get into the bed, then everyone settles and sleeps. I have always let them talk and grumble, but wish I had made more effort to eliminate bed-guarding, just because it is so darn unpleasant in the middle of the night!

Good luck with Miss Kiya…and poor Chance (who must like her or he wouldn't put up with it).

I had to start letting one in the bed and under the covers before the other one can get in. It was like, as long as we can't see each other we are happy to pretend that the other one doesn't exist. Although sometimes Manning makes a game out of punching the growling lump under the covers!

  • Years ago when all my kids were young… the girls would be under the covers and OJ's favorite thing was to walk on the top and paw the "lumps" to see what got a reaction.... it was pretty funny to here that typical Basenji noise from out of no place.... covered at they were.....
