Grrrrr

  • I'm at my parents house, a little quality time with my mom and dad 'till i'm going home again :D

It's rainy and cold, my mom is at the mall and I'm home allone with my doggies…

I wanted to let them out for a pie... hahahaha

They give me a very BIG finger..
They didn't notice it was raining so the jumped out in the garden and immediately stopped - turned - ran inside - look very angry

Now, buana is lying on the big chair, covered in a fleece blanket..
Chafuko is lying on one couch with a fleece blanket
Hailey is lying on the other couch with also a fleece blanket...

When I look at them or talk to them, they give me an expression...

So nice to have active, smiling dogs... hahahaha

  • Same picture here: just a quick jump in the garden for a pee that's all. I am convinced Bendji is waiting for a moment of distraction from my side to poo in the hallway !!!!
"No way I am going to do my business on the wet grass, you human !":p
For now he is lying on the coach under a fleece blanket… Do they perhaps have telepathic gifts ???
    Greetz to the beastie boys

  • My previous beastie (died last fall), EL D, absolutely hated going out in the rain and when it was cold I would frequently find him burrowed under the bed covers :)

Hi @Vesna, it’s interesting you say that about the spay. Our tri-color actually just got spayed this week and her coat shed before that. I noticed small amount of black hair growing in where she shed, hopefully it grows back. What phase is your tri-color at? Did this just happen?

My undergraduate degree was in geophysics with a minor in applied math. I name all my Basenjis after Indian mathematicians. My current Basenjis are Madhava of Sangamagrama (Madhava for short) and Bramagupta (Bramagupta for short). They do respond to their "short" names.

@tanza: Note the other thread on temperament. It was a known fact many years ago that Basenjis would bite first, ask questions later. I hear this from time to time and smile. My first Basenji that I had in 1966 had the best temperament of any of them. She was absolutely fine with anyone and everyone, loved children, was aloof but not snarky with adults, and I could take her anywhere. My Mom took her on a Humane Society tag day, lots of strangers patting her and when one picked her up she yodeled! If I disturbed her when she was sleeping, she would grumble, and if I picked her up when she was comfortable she would snarl…...sounded like a fire engine.....but she would never nip or bite. I have never known a Basenji that wouldn't snark if you disturb them when they are comfortable, but most of mine were all noise, no action. Like most breeds, there are good and bad. I think one reason people get the impression they are nasty is that most Basenjis will stand on their dignity and don't suffer personal disrespect gladly. You generally can't take liberties with one that doesn't know you.
