    I am so sorry for your loss.

    Animals mourn and just like people it is a little different for each animal. Give her opportunities to do the things she enjoys, try to keep her schedule as normal as possible, and keep an eye on her. Especially watch that she does eat something, you may have to use some extra special food. My mom lost her 15 year old lab this year and both her basenji boys stopped eating, she said that there was about 2 weeks where she was pretty much hand feeding them so they would eat. Then they started to bounce back.

    I am so sorry for your loss. Your dog may not only notice that your father is missing but may also sense your sadness. Dogs are so perceptive. I am so glad you found your father before he was lost for good. Sending you a hug…

    Sorry to hear about your Dad Stellagirl - at least you had some time with him. I'm sure your little beastie is mourning also - maybe leave an old shirt of your Dad's in the dog's bed. My prayers and love to you.

    What a sad day for you, and especially over the Christmas holidays. I pray that you and your babies will hold onto your memories no matter how short of time you had together.     I'm so sorry for your loss. As for your basenji…they are really sensitive creatures, and I have seen them be very "moved" at the death of another basenji in our home, so being there with your Dad when he died may have really affected her emotions. Give her time, TLC, and other wise act as normal as you can.

    Ah ok cool thanks, I had something like that when Safi was smaller and it was the most successful for sure. She outgrew it quite quickly though

    We use ones from Rukka. Not sure if they’re available everywhere but they are they best ones we have tried (others always fell off, especially in deep snow). I think having two Velcro closures on each sock has been key. I also prefer the soft shell ones as our B seems to accept them more and they don’t twist as much as the ones with a hard sole.     My undergraduate degree was in geophysics with a minor in applied math. I name all my Basenjis after Indian mathematicians. My current Basenjis are Madhava of Sangamagrama (Madhava for short) and Bramagupta (Bramagupta for short). They do respond to their "short" names.
