Can anyone help this little dog before its too late?

  • If there is an adopter or a foster in So Cal, a BUR run could probably be organized. That would make the drive a bit shorter depending on how many people were willing to participate.

  • I received a note from Mike Swan, BRAT, that they knew of this basenji and there are plans already for his adoption to happen on Tuesday

  • That's great! Thank you for checking on this…that dog was too adorable to be let go, he looks exactly like my Tosca actually, maybe that is why I felt especially bad for him:) I hope whoever adopts him gives him a great home!

  • if only the dog would have been closer, I could have snatched him up… well its good that they found a possible adoptee.

    i'm still looking for one.....

  • Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttt!!!

  • Boxman you could still wait a couple of days in then call, just in case whatever is on Tuesday doesn't work out….good luck and I hope you find a dog soon!

  • From what I've seen on the BRAT web site (I was checking for several months before I got Tyler and Zoey)–there usually aren't many Bs available in CA (but there is a link to Medfly on their site). And when there is, it seems to be in this same area (Sacramento), and they seem to get snapped up pretty quickly--which is great for the dogs. It is hard to be patient sometimes, but things sure did work out in the end for me--it was like Tyler, Zoey and I were meant to be together.

Yes, there are a couple of BYB's in the Sacramento area and that is usually where they show up for rescue.

    ohhhhh–that explains it......

  • Great news everyone my Brother and sister in law just E-mailed me. They were planning to get Benny out and foster… called the shelter early today and Benny has been adopted. He has a family now!
I told them about Benny yesterday when I saw the post BDawg put up because they are not to far from that shelter. I'm so happy he was not put down.

@morsesa - Your post for price is way out of date... both for the pup and travel. Please update before posting. Thanks

You can also check with Camp Basenji if you are interested in an adult rescue. I know she has tris since I have one from her. :) Pam does NOT list all her available dogs as people tend to fixate on a picture and just want THAT one. She is superb at matching people with the right dog if you are upfront about what you want and can handle. We still laugh at me wanting a NOT too laid back dog. She almost didn't let me have one, figuring SOMETHING was wrong with me wanting a tough dog. But after a while, she decided I was okay and she sent me "THE FEISTY ONE" . LOL, the having is not the same as the wanting as Spock said. (Just joking, I adore every atom of her being.) http://www.campbasenji.org/adopt-a-basenji/ Cara in wild play mode. :) [image: 1502325057436-wildcarajan2013.jpg]

Check out this video of 9 week old Jaroufa's Glamazon at Rift Valley is quite the agility queen. She went to her new home today thanks to my good friend/ driver and combat tracking mentor, Frank Merritt. We will miss the dark brindle girl but she is going to one of the top racing homes in the country and that is what this litter was all about. http://youtu.be/YkzaZAGcfeY

When I did rescue for BRAT - I didn't even charge anthing for expenses. When I"ve done rescue for BCOA or just because a basenji needed a new home - I've only charged anything if there were unique circumstances. I do take a 'deposit' of somewhere between 100 - 200. and place on a 2-3 week trial - if it works I return the money. I sometimes suggest a donation to a rescue organization. If I was doing LOTS of rescue though and had lots of expenses for health and transport - I would have to charge. I just laugh that a 'high volumn breeder' that I see her website - charges 3 times what the rest of us reputable breeders charge for her pets - oh well that's how it goes.

If you don't find a home for her, you can also try try Medfly Brigade/Basenji Rescue of SoCal. There is a link to their web site at the BRAT site. They are in Acton, CA.
