Goofy dog…

  • So, we are a Catholic family and as such every night we sit together in the living room and say prayers, most of which are the old standard prayers that are said aloud together.
Keoki is usually sleeping in his little chair when we start, although sometimes he is up. No matter where he is or what he is doing, every time– EVERY time -- we start to pray aloud, he jumps up and runs! over to the base of the stairs and starts going nuts, the way he does when he sees or hears the cats up there.

At first, we thought it was coincidental and the cats must be at the top of the stairs {they like to peek through the railings at him, and watch him go nuts},then we began to notice that the cats are no where near the stairs.

It's like us making the Sign of the Cross is a trigger for him to go look for the cats. , and he'll run back and forth from the living room to the stairs until we finish -then he's usually so keyed up we put him outside where he runs and runs like a fool for a few minutes.

We've tried putting him out before we start, but then he's jumping at and scratching at the sliding glass door to get back in the whole time.

Hard to get kids to focus on prayer when they're all trying very hard to NOT crack up! :D {Okay, it cracks up the grown-ups, too}.

  • too funny :D

  • Hahaha. Keoki seems like such a character!

In your position, where you really have to take her out a lot, I understand. And I hope her comfort continues. My point was it is situational need, not dog need to be that social. :) I have a slim chance of that having worked with my current 2, but with my incredibly dog aggressive first one, I'd have been out in a basket muzzle and warning everyone to keep their dogs away.

If the dogs are having similar symptoms as in the previous years, they need to be treated ASAP! It is my understanding that many are developing the acquired Fanconi Syndrome and need to be put on the protocol. Many vets though do not have the equipment to do the venous blood gas test and get an accurate diagnosis. Emergency vets should have the equipment. Do not buy any dog treats that come from China and if the package does not state where it is from then do not buy it! Jennifer

Sahara does the same, she will stick her head through just enough to see you and then helps you get dry by licking. She loves to help out, and will take a bath pretty easy now. Daddy also took her with him to shower and she did good. We have also taken her in our boat with a lifepreserver of course and she liked it ok. Hubby put her in the river with him and she was fine with him. Yea, they do have the sweetest personalities, and we love our Sahara sooooooo much.

Hollie will hide her treats and her dog food. Her favorite hiding place is under MY pillow in the bed. She has tried to hide her entire food bowl by pushing one of her plush toys with her nose in an attempt to get the toy on top of her food bowl. Why doesn't she just use her mouth to pick it up and place it on the bowl? Silly dog!
