Yummy breakfast

Basenji Talk
  • Abbey's crate has a sheepskin pad that sheds lumps of fuzz every time she gets out of it. This morning I swept up all the little fuzzies, left the broom in the corner, and went to check my email. Then I heard noises that all B moms just know means they're up to no good. First I hollered What Are You Doing In There? So I go in the kitchen and Abbey's just standing at her bowl chewing. I apologized to her for being mean and thinking she was being naughty when in fact she was only eating her breakfast like a good little B. THEN I noticed what was hanging out of her mouth. She was eating the fuzz I had just swept up!

  • That's a basenji for ya!! LOL

  • Quiet chewing is usually not a good sound! :D because it's usually something they should NOT be chewing LOl!

  • Sahara was all quiet the other day for me to investigate and found she had one of my Hallmark Christmas ornaments, it was a barbie ornament, one that I liked alot. I said, "Sahara what have you got"? She took off, but lost it in the run, haha!!! I got it, and threw it away!!! If I didn't love her so much, I would have been real mad, but what the heck!!!!

Hi @Vesna, it’s interesting you say that about the spay. Our tri-color actually just got spayed this week and her coat shed before that. I noticed small amount of black hair growing in where she shed, hopefully it grows back. What phase is your tri-color at? Did this just happen?

I can't listen to that, it would wake my girl up and well... I'm not into a "sing along" just now. ;) I will say that many canines howl and yodel and bay (at the moon, whenever a fire truck passes, etc.). I'm not certain that any one breed is distinctive enough to have a sound all their own, but many a proud owner would probably assert so.

We use ones from Rukka. Not sure if they’re available everywhere but they are they best ones we have tried (others always fell off, especially in deep snow). I think having two Velcro closures on each sock has been key. I also prefer the soft shell ones as our B seems to accept them more and they don’t twist as much as the ones with a hard sole. Here are the ones I am referring to: https://rukkapets.com/paw-wear/thermal-shoes-black

My undergraduate degree was in geophysics with a minor in applied math. I name all my Basenjis after Indian mathematicians. My current Basenjis are Madhava of Sangamagrama (Madhava for short) and Bramagupta (Bramagupta for short). They do respond to their "short" names.
