Basenji For Sale - Needs good home

Basenjis For Sale or Wanted
  • 1 Year Old FemaleBasenji FOR SALE

Looking for someone in our vicinity to purchase our Basenji.

We’ve had her for a couple of months and our 3 year old son continues to play to rough – so, for the safety sake of our Basenji we have decided that we need to wait a while before having pets.

    Tod Parchman
    West Frankfort, Illinois

    Contact me by Private Mesage

Age of Basenji(s): 1 Year Old
Current weight of Basenji(s) for sale: 20.5 Pounds
    Weight of Basenji(s) parents: Unknown
    Parents health tests: Unknown
Registration if any (AKC, Basenji Clubs, etc): None
    Price: $100.00
Do you ship your Basenjis: No

Our little lady is housebroken and abides well in her environment. Like most Basenjis she enjoys chewing, especially on the kids toys. She does not chew furniture, shoes, belts etc. She is used to staying in a crate while we are gone – sleeps at the foot of our bed at night.

Email me for pics or anymore questions – need to find her a home as soon as possible.

  • Tod, it would be great if you could contact BRAT (Basenji Rescue and Transport)

    http://www.basenjirescue.org/

They won't pay you for your basenji, but they will help her find a forever home. They are particularly careful about screening prospective adopters to make sure they are a good match with the breed.

  • Thanks for the info - from reading about the rescue it sounds like they try and find good families for the dogs they place, which is the same reason I posted here.

    Again, thanks for the info.

  • Update:

Feel free to remove this thread.

    Thanks.

@jodymp another post you sent stated you were in Yorkshire... so, are you looking for a pup in Europe? Do you have a specific region, or a distance range where you are focusing your search?

Shes super smart. I just wanna see her go to someone who has more time for a puppy. I have yet to hear back from BRAT about posting her on the site under Mixes. She's very dog friendly and SUPER playful.

I just wanted to respond to this thread. I hope everything is going good with you and things are working out. The thing I wanted to respond to was the thought that a man may have abused him since he does not do well with men. A basenji can make their mind up about disliking something for no reason at all. My first Basenji was with me from 6 weeks of age and never had a man abuse him and at two years old decided he hated men for the next two years. I kept him socialized and kept getting men to feed him pet him while I had him stacked and holding his head, had them talk to him, go over hime etc. after a while his dislike left as quickily as it came. I have had a few dogs do this sort of stuff between 12 and 18 months I call it the stupid stage, they all the sudden don't like men, women, the grooming table, the trash can outside etc. It is important to work them through their fear so they can be a complete dog. Just think how it would be for you if say you were scared of men but had to see them daily just think how stressful your life would be. I hope if you keep him you help him get through this or if you place him please be honest with the new owners and recommend that they get him out and work him through this.

@jmcduff: We were able to pickup Tyson from Kelli and brought him home on Monday. His new buddies Chevy (Tri-female) and Chase (RW-male) are beginning to accept Tyson into our home. Chase has no problem but Chevy is very protective of us and very bitchy toward Tyson. After two days she is getting better. Chase he doesn't care he just goes with the flow. The first night was interesting but we made it through. Our B's sleep in our bed and Chevy wasn't too happy about having to share with Tyson. She doesn't bother him when they are outside together it is mostly inside our house which she is very protective. I have attached a picture of all them together. Ha! Her body language says it all!!! Good luck, and I hope things get better and better! Beautiful dog family there!
