    Hi, I live in Fort Lauderdale and would love to have a play date with other basenji owners in or around here. There used to be lots of basenjis around, we used to have basenji days about two or three times a year, but I have lost touch with them or they have moved away. I have one 10 year old BRAT boy that I adopted about 8 years ago and a Serengeti boy who is 1.5 years old.

    I am moving to the area in 2 days and would love a playdate for my b! She hasn't seen another b since she was a pup so it would be great. She is still only 2 years old though. I am moving to Pompano Beach

    I think Joan said she has talked to you before. We have 1 10 year old female from Indiana and I think a brother of your younger one - Bourbon who is also 1.5. Joan takes them to Snyder almost daily so if you plan to be there let us know when.

    I will check out the Facebook page. There is a nice dog park in Encinitas, but I'm not sure how far you are from the area.

    Found this thread and figured I would respond. I have an almost 1yr old Male (27 November) and would be interested in meeting up with other Basenji owners and their dogs. I live near Quantico and quite honestly don't see any other Basenjis ever. Will drive to most parks in the NOVA area.

    Hi Tasia. I see that it has been a couple of years since you posted but we are in the Lehigh Valley and have a Basenji mix who would love a play date. He is only 3 years old though, so you know.

    Find a good positive reinforcement puppy class, like clicker training and you will both have fun. All of mine have earned at least a rally novice obedience title and love the training. There are some things that you should not expect of a basenji such as being outside off lead. They are sighthounds and must be on a lead or in a fenced area at all times. The biggest issue with a house with children is that the children must understand the door can never be left open. My inlaws have a terrible habit of wanting to stand in the doorway and talk as people leave. I have to shoo them outside so the dogs do not try to dart outside given the opportunity. We have had ten basenjis since our son was two, he is now 27 and the basenjis raised him.

    Is been awhile since the last meetup, we used to be a big group most rescues Some not. If interested I can see if the gang wants to get together again or we can just Establish a date and I can bring my 3 and you can bring yours
