  • I took my daughter and her friends (and the B of course) down to Utah lake. The water was soo warm! Still, I'd never seen a B that liked water - but after my daughter pulled away from the shore, there she went into the water to try to get to them. So later I took her out on the boat with my daughter holding on to her and she loved it! The next week we went camping and as I pulled away from the shore in the canoe, Samantha started wading into the water (this was a mountain lake at 9000ft - so the water was a bit cold!), then started swimming towards the canoe. She got out about 6' from shore and decided that this swimming stuff was not for her - she turned around and swam back. Here's a picture of her standing in the lake.

Well isn't she a sassy little thing? Thanks so much for the information. I had not heard of this one at all. I will Google it to get more info and find where to purchase! Deb

Hi @Vesna, it’s interesting you say that about the spay. Our tri-color actually just got spayed this week and her coat shed before that. I noticed small amount of black hair growing in where she shed, hopefully it grows back. What phase is your tri-color at? Did this just happen?

My undergraduate degree was in geophysics with a minor in applied math. I name all my Basenjis after Indian mathematicians. My current Basenjis are Madhava of Sangamagrama (Madhava for short) and Bramagupta (Bramagupta for short). They do respond to their "short" names.

Too funny Miche! Jonas and Jesus sound kind of similar! Perhaps Jonas was a little confused! ;) Oh, and maybe he just wanted to make sure the baby Jesus was clean and well groomed (hence the water bowl baths) like a proper b! :p Sharron - That's too funny! The look on a non-barking dog's face when they hear the bark of another is PRICELESS! It also sounds like your little girl has learned how to work her feminine wiles to the fullest! :p Oh, and my Mom's b barks, too - especially at things that are out of place in the house or things she finds "threatening" like the shop vac!
