Basenjis are perpetual two year olds. If your attention is on anything that is not them, they feel the need to bring you back to "reality". A Basenji considers himself/herself the center of your universe and expects to be treated accordingly, the exception being when they are getting into mischief and don't want you to know about it. Otherwise your undivided attention is expected, and demanded, especially if it is obvious that something else is foremost in your thoughts. As the nominal owner (otherwise known as "staff") of a Basenji, you are expected to know that! 😉
Basenjis and sunburn
-
I was going to add this on as a comment on another post, but thought it more fair to post it on its own.
Has anyone had any sunburn problems with their basenjis? I'm curious, as their coats are so minimal.

sometimes on the muzzle or belly, but never severe.

2 of mine get pink on the white patch right before their nose - I put sunscreen on them. My 3rd has thicker fur so she doesn't need sunscreen.

My Kristii had very, very short hair… never had a problem with sunburn in her 15+ years

My first Basenji had pink nose which would blister and scab from the summer sun. I used to get it tattooed black but it would peal and lose the black and scab up again. The vet said to keep the dog out of the sun. Yeah right! Good luck on that one.

Isn't that the truth. :D:D:D
