Do not wish to remove myself, just change the name and my profile. I lost my 1st Basenji a few years ago, now I have another and wish to change the details.

RE: Help with getting started.
@mattmanutd
My first Basenji was a spring puppy. Of course we had to wait 9 weeks before we could bring her home. I was told by the breeder we got her from that occasionally Basenjis will have a spring litter. -
RE: Cleo is 16 years young and runs like a top!
My Seeka has slept with us every night, except for boarding since we got her at 10 months old. She snuggles right up to me under the covers.

RE: Puppy Dandruff
@chewy1
Seeka is bathed regularly due her swimming and rolling in sand at the park daily, besides she sleeps in the bed with us. We put 1 tsp of Optima 365 in her dry food daily. Vet recommended. Takes care of her dandruff. -

So sorry for your loss. It is never easy to lose your baby. We had our first B for 12 years. Had such a big hole in my heart we got another one. She is 3yrs now. You will find another. -

I have tin foil covering all my fabric furniture. It is the only thing that has worked to keep Seeka off the furniture and from chewing. -
RE: Use of Rescue Remedy
@gigi
Thank you for your response and encouragement to keep trying different things for calming Seeka. This is week 2 with the Rescue Remedy. I’ve tried a few of the “calming” treats, however she will not touch them even if wrapped in cheese. -
RE: Use of Rescue Remedy
No luck with crate training. She would bite the crate and injure herself. She would cry and even
choke at times. I couldn’t stand it. Tried for a couple of months. -

I’m glad to hear someone has used and gotten results with RR. Thanks so much. -
RE: Use of Rescue Remedy
I take her to a doggie park for 1 1/2 to 2 hrs every morning. She has a group she runs and plays with all this time.
I was never able to crate train her, another story.
She never seems to tire until bedtime. This is why I’m trying the Rescue Remedy. -
Use of Rescue Remedy
Seeka is 3yrs and still chewing furniture when left alone. We’ve tried everything. The vet prescribed a medication with horrible side effects. I never gave Seeka the medicine. I just couldn’t. Recently I’ve met a trainer quite knowledgeable of dog behaviors. She has recommended Rescue Remedy, 2 drops a day for 2 weeks. This is to help with Seeka’s anxiety.
Has anyone else used Rescue Remedy and if so what was your experience ? -
RE: My Iggy stares at me upside down when he wants attention.
This is too cute! I’m certain this would get my attention.

RE: Hard to live with my Basenji
We had A Basenji for 12 yrs. until she passed. She was 3 mos. when we got her. Never could crate train her. She chewed out some of her teeth so we gave up on that. She suffered from separation anxiety and was very destructive until about 2 yrs. when she got better. We got Seeka at 10 mos. from the same breeder in Georgia. She was such a handful. She growled at my husband any time he was near. She would run through the house constantly bouncing off the furniture and was very destructive. We called the breeder and planned to take her back. The breeder suggested my husband lie in the floor and give her treats to try and bond with her. It was successful after a couple of weeks. She is 3 now and still suffers from separation anxiety and is still somewhat destructive. I have found spraying the furniture with Apple Cider vinegar and using tin foil keeps her from destroying everything . I take her to an off leash park for an hour or two daily which helps with her behavior.
