Cardiac and Patella Testing ???

    I am taking both my B's in over the next week or so, for some health testing, and I would like to get the Vet to check for any heart murmurs, and also the state of their Patellas. I will be documenting this on the OFA site, but, I was wondering if I need a Vet Certificate, to present to the OFA, as proof that I have actually had a Vet test them, before putting the results up on their site ???

    OFA has form that need to be filled out and signed by your Vet… if you go to www.offa.org you can download the forms you need

    Our printer has broken down, so I will take the info to the Vets to get them to download the forms for me…

    Of all the testing that I was about to do, this is actually the only thing, (apart from Ochres Fanconi...), that I can do :(. I had Saba booked in for H/E, but, now I cant do them, cos I want to put them up on the OFA site, but he needs to be at least 2 yrs, and he wont turn 2 till 19th July. Also Thyroid has to be done 100 days from being in season, so again, have to wait, and patience is NOT my strong point :D

    @mustBcrazy: could you please post where to get these test kits, and whats all required to send off seems like there were some problems with testing in the pass, yeah been a while, isis is doing great,what a love ,hopefully we'll get on more …. tia www.offa.org/cart.html- it is at the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals as I understand it…time for me to get one too!

    @etzbseder: Thanks, I've seen that before, but forgot about it. After looking at that, it shows that my answer would be: Clear pups ONLY means that neither parent is affected, and that does not change with multiple clear pups. The only thing that shows any determination of the parents is a test of the parent themselves (or if their grandparents are clear). correct. The more clear pups (with no affecteds or carriers) you had from the breeding of the same two animals, the more LIKELY it is that the parents are clear…but it certainly would not be a for sure.

    @jessi76: another vac I didn't see on your list is Lyme. Ask your vet about it IF tics are prevelant in your area. where I live, ALOT of dogs are coming down with Lyme disease (spread by deer tics), so I didn't even think twice about getting my dog the vaccine. although we keep him on a flea & tic preventative, the vaccine is another added precaution. like I said though, only if tics are an issue in your area. No, they don't seem to be a big deal here, the worst "pest" we have aside from fleas are chiggers or you may know of them as sand fleas. Thanks for you help.
