Trimming nails nightmare

Well we have been through tow groomers and she is impossible to trim nails, I am taking suggestions she will have no part of drimmel etc.

The groomers can't do it?? Usually the dog is docile at the vets or groomers. Of course the drimmel won't work with the buzzing sound. Have you tried more than 1 groomer? Also the vet can do it.

Did you de-sensitize her to the dremel? Nemo hated it until I feed him hot dogs the entire time he was getting his nails trimmed with it. 😃 I did it first with the dremel just on and then gradually moved it to his nails. Otherwise you could do the same thing with nail clippers if the dremel isn't an option.

My question is-has the groomer tried to desensitize her! It took me about six weeks on two occasions to actually start clipping two very different dogs nails. But in the end, worth the time and effort. One a pug and one a chihauhau. Both had been sedated before to trim their nails. They left me at least being able to stay awake and have their nails trimmed with the pug wearing no muzzle and the chihauhau at least staying still! Doesn't matter IMO if the groomer is using clippers or a dremel, it matters that the dog gets used to whatever method they are using.

That's a great method. 😃

How old is ur B?

This may sound tedious, but I use a very course nail file on my 4 month old while he is asleep or very sleepy. It really doesn't take all that much time. He doesn't like ANYONE touching him anywhere examinable, but he lets me file his nails! It gives me better control over how far down to the quick I'm going, esp. on his dark nails.

Good luck!

Keoki used to FREAK OUT at nail trimming time, so I had to use cookies to teach him that the Dremel is his friend.
He's still not convinced it's his friend, but he does remain reasonably still. Not like Jazz who just lays over back wards and lets me do whatever, but getting there.
