New UKC Champion

  • Today, Rio, FC Kinetic Sourcery SC, FCh, JOR became a UKC Champion. We tried out the UKC shows this past May and had a nice time. They have a more relaxed atmosphere than the AKC shows, more like the fun matches that used to be more common when I started showing Nicky 10 years ago. Today we decided to get some practice in for the BCONC specialty next weekend and came home with new Champion.

Another big difference between AKC and UKC shows is that most UKC shows allow day of entries. So even if you don't decide until the last minute you want to show, you can still show up before the show starts that day and sign up.

  • Congrats to Rio… way to go.....

  • Congratulations! I'm also thinking of the UKC shows for next year.

  • That is awesome Lisa :) I am thinking of trying UKC also…I have been frustrated with AKC lately. Do they give you a written evaluation of the dog, or am I confusing UKC with the International shows?

  • Congrats! I would love to see a pic of the new Champ… ;) :)

  • Congratulations Lisa and Rio!

They do not give written evaluations, that would be the International Shows…

  • The International shows are the ones that give written evaluations. Though the UKC judges that I have shown to have been pretty approachable and willing to share what they see in a dog.

UKC also has a pretty cool Juniors Program where kids can start as young as, I think, 3 years old with their parent in the ring with them as they show their dog.

I would highly recommend giving them a try and it is even better if you can go with a friend.

    Ethan would LOVE that!

Oh, I would love to see him in the Specials - unfortunately, our cousin, without reading the Events Calendar, can you imagine  - decided to get married this weekend so we will miss the Palm Springs shows. How inconsiderate of her, LOL But I hope to see Deb at the club meeting; she'll have big brags! Terry
